Re: 26. Joe Anderson

I can't believe how stupid some of the posters are in these forums. We have a delisting topic for 2009 and posters are writing: Joey Anderson will be delisted by the end of this year. I know for certain that he will not be delisted by the end of this year because he has signed a 2 year contract at the end of last year.

You do know that contracted players can be delisted, don't you.

If Joey doesn't show something between now and the end of the season he could well be on his way out the door.

I know we can delist players. But we are going to have to pay him even when he is not on our list. So play him. He's only a youngster and can always improve or burn and fail.....

While this is true J, can you name me the last one we delisted. There are enough guys with their hands up to play VFL next year without having to go to delist players under contract. It would take some remarkable turnaround in form from Cloke, Edwards, Hartlett, Bannister, Bentick, and Hadley to put Joe under the pump IMO.

Haing said that he seems to have fallen behind Browne, Armfield and maybe even Grigg and Johnson for the medium defender role.

He will need to produce something to not get the chop NEXT year IMO.

Re: 26. Joe Anderson

What do we think of Joey?

14 touches at 86% and 5 one per centers against Richmond.

I'm watching the second quarter ATM.

Ando lobbed a great long kick to Fevola 20 to 25 metres out for the first goal of the second term. JA saw that Fevola was one out and kicked it to his advantage off one step from the wing.

Hit the target on the run later on in terrible conditions.

We have something to work with if we can improve his decision making.

Anderson was understandably a bit rusty given it was his first game of the season.

Still raw after moving from the territory at just 18.

Good size and pace.

I was surprised to see Anderson seemingly take his eyes off the ball after he backed back in front of Brown last year.

Re: 26. Joe Anderson

An old thread.

Most of it rings true.

Joey is one player I hope we keep and develop with the next four drafts stripped to the bone. Anderson has the talent, size, work ethic and athleticism to be a long term project. I hope we persist with him if Alan Toovey can develop and play 18 games for the Pies this year.

Re: 26. Joe Anderson

Anderson is junk. I saw a few bullants games and while ok there didn't thing he would make it. After seeing the game against Adelaide two weeks ago I was mega suprised he got given a 1st team game. Bring in Grigg or Lucus or hammer or someone with a chance of making it. Brown perhaps. I just can't see this kid ever being any good at afl level.

Re: 26. Joe Anderson

Joey showing some great form in the Bullants late in the season, was named emergnecy several times leading up to finals and word on TC is that he has signed a 2 year deal.

Good on ya Joey, much more improvement needed to get a spot in the 22 though

Brilliant news! :thumbsu:

I'm glad to hear this.. he is continuing to develop, albeit at a slow rate. He will become at the very least a serviceable player for us. His run and dash is perfect to our game style. All he needs is to be backed in and allowed to build on his confidence and I dare say we'll see a different Joey Anderson in 2011 and beyond.

Go Joey!

Might get a flag in the same year as his brother who won a flag with the Box Hill Hawks.

Didn't even know Joey was playing in Adelaide.
Thought he was playing up in the NT.
Same here. Anyway I hope he enjoys premiership success tomorrow. I always hoped he would make the grade at Carlton. Even more so after he stood in front of Jonathan Brown to take a match saving mark at the Gabba in 2008.

Arguably his greatest highlight when he was at Carlton. An amazing bit of courage to stand in front of a Jonathan Brown in the last minute of the game. Would be great to see him win a flag tomorrow afternoon. Is there any TV coverage of the SANFL final?

I was looking at the SANFL website before & there was reference to a stream on the ABC website.
