My opinion of this guy is so very high its redicolous, i reckon he is in the top 10 players in the competition, if not, he would be in the top 5.

When people look at the guns Richmond have got, people automatically look towards Brad Ottens, Darren Gaspar, Matt Richardson and to a certain extent Wayne Campbell, and often Joel Bowden is overlooked.

In my opinion (which i know is not great on Richmond, but i reckon its adequate) he is the best player in your club, marginally in front of Brad Ottens. I thought it was a joke that he didn't get in last year's All Australian side. His nearly impossible to match up on as his is quick, versatile and tall, and picks up a mammoth of possesions (and uses them brilliantly).

He is one player that often slips under the guard of the opposition and destroys them but they don't even know it.

Where abouts in the club do Richmond supporters rate him?? The number one player?? Or just a bit of number one??

joel will never be above otto!
joel can play football no doubt about that and he has the ability to tear a game apart. however there isnt a game that goes by that he lets himself down by doing something lazy weather its being to fancy by foot or hand.
his status at tigerland would be about 4. behind otto, richo and gasper.
cheers!

According to Mike Sheahan, he is elite. What crap!

Yes, he is a bloody good player, and I'd happily have him at Glenferrie, but I wouldn't call him elite. Richardson, Gaspar and Ottens are elite, and Campbell is possibly included in that group at a stretch, but not Bowden at this stage.

In my opinion, he hasn't done that much to earn the elite tag. Joel Smith didn't get the elite tag according to Mike, and he's an All-Australian. What has Bowden achieved that Smith hasn't?

Good midfielder who is dangerous going forward but doesn't earn the hard ball. Every team has a good one, and Bowden is good at what he does, but don't get grandour illusions of him being in the top 5 to 10 in the league.

In 2001 he played 25 games and kicked 26 goals. That's 1.04 goals per game. I don't know how many behinds but that's not bad for a midfielder (although i guess his role is to kick a goal or two aswell). I agree that he isn't yet one of the game's 'elite' but I suppose he is a tad under rated. I would say he fairly missed out on All-Australian selection but wouldn't be surprised if he made it no probs this year. I expect good things from him this year and early on has impressed.

Joel Smith is an All Australian and Bowden is not!

Who cares, Bowden in my opinion should have been put in that "team", but reputation gets people into that "team", nothing else.

Bowden is in the elite player category and deserves to be, he is the number 2 at Richmond for me, just behind THE MAN, Brad Ottens!

Joel Bowden is good.

I have also seen him **** himselves a few times in tough games. Watch last years Tiges v Bullies game. Did a few things that will show why he will never be "elite". Apart from that he is very good.

Bowden is really good. And only 23.
Fast forward a year or two.

our midfield will be ottens, bowden, rodan and maybe Poyas in the middle..dragga and Fiora on the wings.:D

Bowdo will be covered in all australian jumpers by then.

He is the Adam Gilchrist of the Richmnd football team...(that is...kept out of his rightful position for too long by an older incumbent...and really talented.)

Joel Bowden

Joel would be a close second to Otto and is an ELITE player and very underrated (Re: All Oz 2001), he has many a time changed the course of a game off his own boot. Very Skillful mark & kick, inspirational runs into forward half and Bombs long left foot 50 odd metre Goals, "a la Geoff Raines". TERRIFIC PLAYER!!!!!

Joel Bowden Is the Mark Waugh of the tigers.Makes it look so easy but then will produce a mongrel punt that goes any where.

Somethings happened to his kicking. Not sure what it is but he is no-way near as penetrationg and acurate as he was as 20 year old.
I think his concentration level low at times thus efecting his kicking. Tries to be to fancy sometimes as well.
With more responsibilty on his sholders I hope he can handle it. The juries still out on him being top ten material I would have Misiti above him.

Nah, not Misiti! Can't run, is an ordinary kick but has the knack of getting the ball. Barely in Essendons best 22 and nowhere near the class of Bowden.

If I didn't know better I'd say you were trolling there.....
