Lisle played on Dawes last time we played them iirc (could of been out of need though as they were very light on for KBs in that game), did a bloody good job too, but his kicking skills are beyond help, struggled to hit a target coming out of defense, doubt he'd hit a barn door kicking inside 50, couldve been a one off but Hawks fans seemed to think it was the norm when i dropped in on their board after the game, i'd call them both KPBs, they could probably do a job on mid size fwds as well though, (Shoey can do a job as KB anyway, probably more a mid size defender though, plays a bit taller than what he is.)
Nah, you're wrong mate.

Schoey is a Forward or a Winger being played as a defender out of need (all of his pre-season stuff was as a roaming CHF type); Lisle is KP - can play either end.

hope he stays and think he will, but i still remember seeing him on draft night after being picked up by port and he looked dead set miserable haha.

If he walks out he can enter the national draft just like Luke Ball whether you like it or not.

Not if Port do not delist him before the National Draft, which they wont, so he is staying with us

Seriously, he played on who in the Bulldogs game ??? Ayce Cordy ??? A beanpole ruckman who they threw back as their KPD stocks are non-existant ATM due to injuries.

I am not trying to take anything away from the kid, he did a hell of a job to get 6 goals in his second game, but people are going on like he is automatically going to be the next Carey.

You obviously didn't watch the game. After his first two goals, the Bulldogs saw him as such a threat that they double and triple teed him for the rest of the match. He came off just before his third goal cos he copped a huge whack to the jaw in a marking contest where he went up 1 against 3, not only managed to bring the ball to ground, but took out all 3 Bulldogs players, which then led to them being our of position and us scoring a goal. A couple of minutes later, he came back on the ground, took an excellent contested mark and slotted a goal from 45m out at the hardest angle at Footy Park.

There's flukey games and then there's games that make you go... WOW. This kid is gonna make it. Sure, reaching the heights of Carey is a huuuuge call, but to put things in perspective... Hurley has never kicked more than 4 goals in a match. Everyone fawns over him. Travis Cloke, currently the best key forward in the game has a PB of 6 goals. It took him 5 years to get there.

Butcher did it in his second game, in a side getting slaughtered with a lack of forward entries, getting double and triple teamed (as we had no other forward threat - Schulz subbed off at half time when Butcher was on 2 goals).

No matter what dreams you have, if he demands a trade he'll be traded.

You're having a reality brain explosion

Ever heard of Ryan O'Keefe?

No matter what dreams you have, if he demands a trade he'll be traded.

Hahaha I love this... Reminds me of Richmond supporters when discussing Trengove a month or so back.

Nick Stevens demanded a trade. He wasn't traded. We've set a precedent now.

So scurry on back to your wet dreams about Butcher, cos the only way you'll get him is IF he wants out and IF Carlton are willing to pay overs for him.

He'll sign before the end of Sep.

Nick Stevens demanded a trade. He wasn't traded. We've set a precedent now.

At the time, the rules were different. Nick Stevens could only enter the PSD which meant he had no chance of getting through to Collingwood (who had just finished runners up).

If it were done again, he would have entered the national draft which would have given him far more flexibility. Also, at the time you were challenging for major honours so you could afford to perhaps throw him to a lowly side by refusing to trade him and strengthen a rival challenger.

If Butcher leaves, believe me you will not throw him to the scrap heap and be left with no compo because of a so called "precedent". (see Shaun Burgoyne). Your current state on field is a reason as to why you would do a deal and not risk losing him for nothing.

You do realise that if he doesn't re-sign, his contract will expire before the National Draft, right?

You do realise that it is up to Port when they delist him, up until the final cut-off for the Pre-Season Draft, right!!!!!

If Scully were to leave for GWS then I'd be tempted to offer our tier 1 compo for Butcher.

Assuming that he'd be willing to leave Port which I find doubtful, but we would have plenty in our cap to make him happy and Port could use the tier 1 compo in the 2012 'superdraft'.

No matter what dreams you have, if he demands a trade he'll be traded.

sure but there's no evidence that he has demanded a trade

the evidence has pointed the other way via his team mates and close Port ppl like Tredrea

but the reality is this - if a player wants to be traded

i dont think thats the issue

the issue is when ppl think you can bend over another club with imbalanced trades

Thats the insulting part

Port Adelaide
via Nick Stevens
via holding out on S. Burgoyne

has shown that we stand firm on what we want

and ppl point to "times like these" - well in "times like these" its even more imperative to stand firm

ppl here have their own vested interest in getting the "cheapo" deal but tbh when hv you ever seen those deals happen they dont - only in bigfooty la la land

Asgardian I am pretty sure they changed that rule mate. Nevertheless young kids who have been well looked after never say trade me for a bag of chips or I'm going into the draft and even if he went into the draft there is no way he would fall to Carlton.

MMMMMM, I'd like to see where that happened, did I blink or something?

They did. Asgardian is wrong.

The days of clubs hanging onto players and not releasing them until the PSD (eg Camporeale's move from Carlton -> Essendon) are now history. Players who come out of contract are now able to nominate for either or both the ND & PSD (eg Ball's move from St Kilda to Collingwood.

FWIW, I would be very surprised if Butcher doesn't re-sign with Port - but if he chooses to leave (and Port refuse to trade him) then he does have the option of nominating for the ND where Port has no advantage over any other club.

They have an advantage over every club except WS don't they? not saying they'll go down that route though.

I couldn't see them using pick #4 on him - and I doubt he'd still be on the table by their pre-2nd round PP. If anything, Port would be disadvantaged if Butcher opted to go down the ND route.

** I highly doubt that things will turn out this way - it's clearly a worst case scenario for Port and they wouldn't let things go that far.
