They’ve been trying to change it through the draft but it will take time.

Players who has toe and or good kick.
17: Ling, Stoddart, Styles
16: Florent, Hayward, Ronke even Fox and Edwards
15: Leonardis, Papley, Murray, COR
True, but how long is going take. I am closer to the coffin then the birth.. i cant wait too long...

Well he has until the end of 2020, and the Swans aren’t in a position to pay him out, so I reckon we have him for at least another two seasons you’d think.

This thread should be fun.

This season has started relatively similar to last except we’ve won more games to date. Hopefully we get a run on and most of the complaints are limited to waiting for us to choke come finals.

On The Couch basically said the Swans defense is too slow and not daring enough with the ball, not creating any attack from defense.

You know two people who can/could have helped with that. Aliir and Murray.
Been saying this for ages

Very stagnant

Swans fans look at the list we have had between 2014 and 2018 and they want/expect more based on the talent of that list. I don't think it is unrealistic to expect the Swans to be playing for premierships given our list the last 5 years.
Of course not. We have been playing for premierships and have been there about. We should've had at least one more flag in that time. Longmire is not above criticism but it's hardly pitchfork and torches material.

He is testing my patience, especially getting outcoached in big games. As a minimum should be a duel premiership coach with the list he has/had. He wont be going anywhere though, has made finals each year coached and has a flag.

even if it is not his responsibility.

Longmire doesn't seem to be responsible for anything.

Pretty sure after round 6 the Swans were number one in the AFL for both FOR and AGAINST... could be wrong but I’d be close...

Remember that if the opp scores more than 70 points we have like a 10% win rate.

Yeah, 3 Gfs in 6 years. What a lousy coach. We should get someone who's worked under Clarko. Take Beveridge, Simpson, Fagan and Bolton. Even though Horse has got us to more GFs than those guys together and matched the combined premierships of all four. Not to mention that their teams remain our bitches.

So give us a break. Horse's job is to get the team in a position to win premierships by winning enough games but he can't do their playing for them as well, or do the umpiring. At the final hurdle it depends mostly on the players. In 2014 GF too many players went to water. In 2016 GF we got reamed by the umps. Lets not forget that he's never missed the finals, not even when we've had a couple of years of rebuilding.

There are heaps of teams to choose from who change their coach regularly. So if anyone here really wants to be perpetual losers then go join another team. Just do it quietly and don't try to take Horse down with you. He's our coach.

Of course he is. He is also equally responsible for presiding over just about the most successful period in the clubs history.

He, along with Roos and Eade have turned too many of our supporters into spoilt children.

The carry on around here by some has been embarrassing. People are now blinded to anything good he does and we have 2.5 years left before the club will be in a position to cut him should they deem that the appropriate action.

These days if we lose, many here will throw their toys out of the cot and throw stones at Longmire. If we win, people still find something to complain about and sometimes there is even an air of disappointment because it keeps the status quo with him in charge! Some genuinely want us to tank or lose every game from here!

Absolutely pathetic!

Here's the most important stat.
Teams that have won premierships have made finals 100% of the time.

So far as a coach, Longmire hasn't missed finals, even while blooding 13 players in two years with more to come this season.
Now that may change by year's end but right now as we speak, we are sitting 3 & 2 after 5 rounds with wins against the teams sitting first & second on the ladder.

Spot on Mase!

Both sides have good arguments and I'm on the fence at the moment.

On one hand if you look just purely at his coaching numbers with wins and losses it's hard not to say he's one of the best coaches we've had. I mean he's coached 24 less games than Roos at the club and already is up 4 wins on him in his career and hasn't missed the finals yet.

On the other hand the way we play while it wins us alot of games it can be very taxing hence our recent finals burn outs, not to mention everyone has figured us out and there hasn't been much variation to our style over the years.

I guess the big question is, if not Longmire then who?

Whether you like horse or not, or even blame him for playing these players he got absolutely nothing out of Hanners, jpk, jack or Parker last night, any team that gets a zero output from a group of comparable players will struggle to win no matter who they play.

This weeks team selection is where Horse needs to show which direction we are heading,
Agreed. The players need to learn a lesson and be dropped for below par performance. Starting with Hanners

We will be paying Buddy until he is 50. Forgive me for wanting a return on that investment.

Buck ultimately stops with the coach. Don’t often see the players getting sacked when a team experiences a prolonged period of poor performance.

We are far from a flag chance in my eyes, and I firmly believe we have the cattle to be contending.

I don’t see why this makes me a bad supporter, spoilt or unreasonable.

I don't think anyone here knows (unless someone has inside knowledge) if players are injured or not yet everyone seems to say things with such authority.
Ok so they are not injured. Then reprimand them with a run in the twos. Coaching is easy

But we haven’t seen a “prolonged period of poor performance”. We’ve see a less than impressive start to the year which has delivered 3-2 record. We saw a even poorer start last year and we were 0-6 before turning it around and making finals. We are in a better position than last season.

I understand many don’t like the gameplan Horse puts in place, and I can also understand if they feel a different gameplan or coach would get more out of the players, but a prolonged period of poor performance there has not been and therefore calls for Horse to walk away from, or the club to terminate his contract are unrealistic.
