You are right. The Tigers still look a cut above the rest with their speed though. I'm not as pessimistic as you about how we'll go with Buddy out, but it will be tough.

Interesting that you bring up the Tigers...
Their game plan is straight out of the Longmire playbook. They don't move the ball with any system, but are very hard to stop.

Tough wins against Dogs, Blues (10 points) & GC.
Sorry you missed the point. I meant,

"I don't hear West Coast whinging and making excuses about playing on a hard ground and being sore the next week."

Stop making up excuses about grounds being too hard and games being played under lights, and cows jumping over moons. This team, coaches and players, need to stand up and accept that there are cracks that we need to fix. I do NOT purport to know what those cracks are. Only the team can own up to those cracks. But what I say as an example is "If Kennedy is unfit don't ****ing play him. If Hanners is just poor form then kick him up the arse and tell him to pull his ****ing finger out or drop him to get some leather poisoning." Some big calls need to be made before these issues become a normal part of this club. Because if complacency sneaks in, we are ****ed for good.

Write the team a letter not me.

I actually wasn't arguing whether they should or shouldn't get a run in the twos I was merely commenting on the fact that people keep on making statements as if they are in the know but really they have no idea.
Funny thing is, we are actually barking up the same tree

Coming into the season, defence was the concern. Funny how things turn.

Coming into the season I was concerned about all our key position stocks. Before Tippett retired. Considering how awful he was last year.

What the hell has retirement got to do with it? He’s out and the last I heard is ‘out is out’!

Lay off the beers.

Who’s on the beers? Oh wait, because people to object to your opinion, they must be drinking? How do you explain your constant Grundy bashing? Oh that’s right, you must be drinking!

Uh, no, it was more the nonsensical ramblings.

IMO defence is the area that I'm most concerned about, if only because it's what we rely on the most. The trend* this year seems to be young, proactive back-lines. Look at our rivals and they have very young back-lines with an emphasis on intercepting and rebounding. Our defence seems to operate in the opposite. It's rather stagnant and we don't look capable of generating any sort of fluid play from our back 50. And I'm not just saying this because I'm a fan of Aliir. I'm saying this because I don't know any other top team right now with three players all over 30 in it. Not that any of them have given us a reason to change things, because the likes of Grundy and Smith and McVeigh have been guns and still do put in some great performances. But the turn-over between the Grundy-Smith-Macca era and the Melican-Aliir-Marsh era needs to happen sooner rather than later for us to improve how we set our game up.

* key word being trend, because it's TBD whether a young, proactive defence can hold up all year and ultimately take out a flag.

putting rohan behind the ball got us back into the game?

we were never in the game because we didn't have half forwards (all pushed up to the contest because our midfielders couldn't win the ball) let alone forwards to kick to.

That was a beautiful kick to Buddy...it’s a pity Buddy ****ed it by stepping off the line. He should’ve had a long range crack at it I reckon!

Fair to say at the end of 2017 we would of looked at our KPF stocks Franklin, Reid, Tippett, Naismith and Sinclair pretty handy.

As it sits right now Sinclair will be the only tall left out of that group to play this week.
It's worth noting we have been identifying we lack cover in those areas as well so we've drafted the following in the last 2 drafts:
Cameron, Amartey, McCartin, Maibum & Pink, and Alex Johnson is still on our list (but he also got injured again)

...we were never in the game...

We were within a goal at the end of the 3rd. We lost by 10 points after kicking 6 behinds in the last term.

Why do people treat that loss like we got belted? We were shithouse in the first quarter, actually stopped the rot, and almost clawed it back.

For me we got beaten the same old way, playing injured players, with the same approach, with a distinct lack of mongrel and "swanslike" football BUT to a side that fielding its second sting midfield.

So combination of same same from a lot of losses in recent times, particularly finals but this time against inferior opposition at home with some bewildering selection decisions tossed in week to week.

We did get belted. Not only should they have won that comfortably, they got embarased in the first half/

Absolute pantsing of the midfield.

Yeah the mids were awful in the first half, but won the second.

Should we have won comfortably? Maybe. I rate Adelaide’s mid depth higher than a lot of people on here did. But in the end it was a close loss.

You want to see a belting? Watch on Saturday arvo.

That is my personal take on the situation.

Kennedy is either cooked or injured.
Hannbery is going like a 1978 Datsun 200B.
Parker just reconfirms my belief that if we had salary cap issues then we probably traded the wrong bloke to the Hawks.
Jack is on borrowed time.
Grundy is struggling to stay with his forward opponent.
McVeigh is still serviceable but obviously his last season.

But these are just opinions and by God do I hope I have it badly wrong.

I agree the 1978 Datsun 200B was a piece of garbage but I wouldn't trade Parker for Mitchell.

From Wiki

The biggest downside to the 200B was the noise the driver would have to endure. The 2 litre overhead cam engine could be very loud when pushed up through the rev range, and to make matters worse there was always plenty of drive line vibration. These issues prompted an exhaustive correction programme to be undertaken by the parent company in Japan, and thankfully later models were somewhat improved.

A lot of teams these days are being more honest with fans, actually telling them when their stars are playing with injuries. It is good to know Longmire is ignoring all that and trying to keep all the Swans fans in the dark.
Who cares ? All players carry niggles. I trust the professionals to do the best with what they have to work with. Fans knowing the status of injuries won't help the team win. I'd rather be a Swans fan in the dark than a fan of any other club.
