Pick 13 this year is worth more than pick 13 next year.

Pick 13 for Noble + F1 values Noble as roughly 28 or so since we could get F1 + 28 for 13 right now.
Since that offer comes from Melbourne, who are likely to finish well below Collingwood, Noble would need to be worth minimum pick 18 to consider trading 13 for Noble + f1. This also makes sense when you consider the Sydney offer. Obviously he isn't worth even close.

Maybe Noble, F1, 36 for 13 could work?

From an unbiased point of view, feels like Noble for pick 13, Bailey Humphrey, next year's first rounder and Dimma's next born child is about god weight.
Might be able to be talked into a cheeky little swap of fourth rounders, but I've always been a soft touch.

Nonsense aside, this and the Rioli trade are both interesting because both have the potential to really skew what clubs perceive as 'fair value'.
Nothing against either, wish Noble had gotten a flag with us and Rioli has excelled in the role, but the asking prices of my mob and the Tigers seem crazy, even factoring in that they are under contract etc.

Rioli is a little over priced if reports are accurate - albeit he is a B&F winner.

Noble is a serviceable player who was dropped by Collingwood for finals/premiership for a reason.

Injuries gave him a regular game this year - when C’woos finished 9th.

Rioli & Noble really are worlds apart if your being honest.

Fair value doesn't exist for the northern clubs, because they can give away top picks for the established players they want, and still get access to elite young talent by packaging up lower picks for points to take their academy graduates

equalisation is a joke

No doubt that Noble is / was on the edge of the best 22, as is evidenced by sadly missing out on playing in the flag.
I was happy to see Rioli reinvent himself, but I don't think the degree of difficulty on either position is through the roof, to be honest.
Would definitely have Rioli ahead of Noble, though, so your point stands 👍

Interesting to see how this all unfolds - a big three days ahead.

Hearing Blues having a sneaky crack at Houston again.

I’d be more worried about the big Melbourne clubs that have devoured any Mummy’s boys wanting to come back to Victoria

That rort of the player nominating the club of choice in a state with 10 teams is outright corruption. They should go to whoever can offer the best deal meaning clubs like yours have a chance

Yeah, I see where those who see it this way are coming from, but (and full disclosure here, am a Pies / Suns member) GCS has ended up distorting the market.
But the other side of the coin is that they are constantly raided and they would devolve into a feeder if they didn't receive some sort of offsetting compo.
They have never been able to keep a critical mass of topliners together and end up having to overpay emerging young blokes and B-grafers to retain them and comply with the salary cap,.then those blokes leave and the cycle starts again.
And the league tries to intervene but its main tool is just throwing picks at it, which just ends up distorting the market
I don't have a solution, to be honest.
The academy part of it is actually one bit I think is good, because there are now Qld and NSW kids coming through who are a better chance to want to stay.

There seems to be a three-way trade involving the PSuns, Port and Pies now, but I can't wrap my head around the mechanics of it.
Would be good to see the full details, what is going around is different depending on the version you read

A heavy price to pay if what’s reported is true.

I’d like to have had Houston - but not at that price.

Ratkins and #29 for a dump? Maybe. Either way we have turned Noble, Richards and a F1 into Houston + change if the rumours are true. I'm happy with that.
So this is the only fleshed out listing I've seen.
Made things a lot clearer for me.
Twomey normally pretty accurate,.I think.
