i am absolutley stoked with the idea of us getting jolly and from all reports its basically been agreed on by both club.

however, i really think that this is the year we should unleash to a greater extent and chase another decent name.

other players who are on the trade table who i beleive the club should be interested in include:

fevola - still a chance to snare him, however now that we are giving up pick 14 we would need to give up decent players + a player who may not be as good, but suits carltons needs + perhaps our 2nd pick. I would NOT contemplte giving up nathan brown (as has been suggested).

burgoyne - still clouds over his whereabouts next year. now that we are looking like we have jolly, a potential trade including josh fraser + a 2nd round pick could perhaps lure him if he is willing to deal with us. this kinda makes sense because port are minus a ruckman in lade.

ball - wouldnt need to give up as much to get this guys, but he could help us. should be looked at is we can get him cheaply.

are there any others who people are suggesting? and can we lure another name by perhaps trading someone like fraser now that we have jolly. even for a decent pick???

Where? I've been looking and I can't find anything other than a Hun article.

The AGE sports section is even more adamant then the HSUN, saying that the deal is done, and that all is to be figured out is the "steak knives" part of the deal.

Collingwood send pick 14 to Sydney
Collingwood send their 3rd round selection to West Coast
West Coast send Seaby to Sydney
Sydney send Jolly to Collingwood
Sydney use remaining 3rd round pick on Kennedy (hawthorn)

^ Just in terms of the draft then... we have to pick up at least 3 players in the national draft right? So unless we trade for more picks, we'd be looking at a 2nd rounder, and then a 4th and 5th rounder (if that scenario did eventuate).

Does the draft keep going forever until each club passes? So theoretically we could also trade our 2nd rounder, and then only have picks in the 4th/5th/6th rounds?

I'll be honest, I think we'll trade Cameron Wood for a Port Adelaide pick.

But yes it keeps going until every club has selected 3 players.

Try http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/sport/afl there's plenty there from Patrick Smith.

Didaka's trade dealie looks somewhat feasible. I'd rather Shannon Cox was the 3rd rounder going to WCE though.

Luke Ball should be our other main target, he's 25, an inside mid who can find the ball prolifically, he's a good clubman and does the 1%ers. Would be perfect for us if he can pass the physical... I've no reason to think that he wouldn't and if he was to be given a full preseason he could be monstrous for us.

If we snagged Jolly, Fev and Ball id be running to the TAB to put my life savings on the pies to win the flag next year!! :-)

how about pick 14 and S Reed to sydney for Jolley

We trade Davis or Medhurst + Cox + 3rd rounder
WCE give us pick 7 + 3rd rounder

we lose: Dawes + Cook + pick 7
we get: Fev + pick 18
Carl get: Mclean and pick 7
Carl lose: Fev pick 11
Mel get: Dawes + Cook + 11
Mel lose: Mclean + pick 18

in summing up we get:
Fev
Jolley
Pick 18
pick 39

We lose:
Davis or Medhurst
Cox
Cook
DawesS Reed
pick 14
pick 46

would also love to trade for Salopek. could probably get him with pick 18 and a fringe player.

It's in the actual paper, I saw the story before over at my parents place.:thumbsu:

The AGE think it is the first deal fully done, with even the McLean deal at Carlton not done yet.

But then again, when have we believed a newspaper "rumour", I'll wait till Monday.

Frustrating couple of days.

If, in fact the deal is done, will the club announce this sort of thing at the beginning of the Trade period or hang on until the last second?

Brian Lake????
i get a little hard thinking what he would be like in our backline :p

why are people thinking we need to trade away every fringe youngster and our picks to have a tilt at the flag.

We have such a young list, butcher it now and have players like jolly and fev retire in 3 years and we are set back even further.

Jolly i wouldnt mind getting for pick 14, thoughts on trading brown reid and dawes is beyond ridiculous though. We dont have excess in those positions. Brown will hopefully replace presti and Reid we need to come on as a chb to replace L Brown.

Dawes is an obvious option up forward for another tall , use Jack as the third tall.

Thoughts on trading those three youngsters is as stupid as people suggesting we are going to get somethin for the likes of Cook and Stanley.

I'd lean towards maybe;

Pick 14 and Wellingham.

or

Pick 14 and our 3rd round pick (48?).

Either way, we won't be giving much away, especially after what Maxwell said tonight.

it'll be only pick 14 IMO, unless theres interest from other clubs which would raise the stakes a bit, a 1st round draft picks more than enough for a 28 yr old ruckman, especially seeing sydney owe us, id value wood and jolly around the same price in trade value, woods a young promising ruck and jollys an excelent ageing ruck, we paid pick 14 or so for wood so i cant see us paying anymore for jolly.
