I didn't see the posts slicedndiced is referring to, but any reference to determining aboriginality by fractions is a relic of our colonial days and would understandably be upsetting to some people. I was around when that system was being phased out and had access to files from decades when it was in use and it was not pretty.

In my understanding, an aboriginal person is one who identifies as such and is accepted by other aboriginal people as such and can in special cases include people who have no aboriginal ancestry at all.

Having said that, none of it has a lot to do with Josh, apart from being part of an overall discussion on the issues he might face to realise his full potential at Fremantle.
That is how it has been explained to me by aboriginal people as well Reg.

I'll treat you more sensitively.:p

I am as soft as butter after all. ;)

What it has done is grant me access to stuff that not many whitefellas have been allowed to see and travel to, and a balanced perspective of how indigenous people take on board what whitefellas might think are harmless, off the cuff, comments.

Seeing my kids go through life as indigenous is also enlightening, in a frustrating and, at the same time empowering, kind of way.

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata ain't bad but...
Great music. Doesn't sound so great when you put it in a blender and lay it down as a backing track. I felt like my ears were being r*ped.

I did like the line about separating the alpacas from the llamas though.

Thanks for having a listen. I too like classical music and I also like adding it to other genres. Hip Hop is not to everyone’s liking so as you may be a classical purest I can understand your dislike for reworking it in the remix version.

I think Josh is getting some tough love from our clubs indigenous leaders. I get the impression that they are still very disappointed with what Josh did from a team point of view and we won't see him in the seniors anytime soon.

Must be frustrating for them, seeing someone on the track with so much talent and knowing you can help them, but it will always come down to the individual in the end (the want or need to be an elite sportsman). I guess it is never meant to be easy in elite sport.

I don't mind a bit of hip hop, Drapht and Hilltop Hoods probably my favourite Aussie artists in that genre. There are plenty of examples of classical music being incorporated as well that I like. I was being flippant up above, but the way the Beethoven track had been chopped up sounded disjointed to my ear, but then that track is one of my all time favourites. The rest of your song was OK, but I would have preferred to hear more variation in the way it flowed.

I wonder what type of music Josh listens to for inspiration.

You're a mod, why don't you do something about it?

Is coming across as condescending against the rules around here now?

Personally I prefer the mods to be like children: seen and not heard (obviously except for their football related comments etc.)

jedi mind tricks and slicedndiced are both big boys, let them sort it out on their own.

Everyone bitching and moaning about it must never have posted anything off topic before or they don't realise their own hypocrisy.

Yes a can see why you would find that, the original flows compleatly different and is the one I have linked now.

I too wonder what Josh and others may listen to pre game. There is some good motivational music out there for pre game psych up.

Going by one of the recent player question vids, i'm more intrigued to know what bands SOS listens to, and to a lesser extent Jason Webber. He was universally panned by most players for his musical tastes in listening to metal. What bands exactly interests me greatly.

Anyone got twitter who can ask him??

You're f***ing kidding right?

That is the majority of Josh's family ALREADY!!

You think he doesn't realise that??????????????

Fair enough you get pissy with me because some dickhead cops my wrath for posting a song, which seems to be close to your heart. Not that I give a f***, since he is so needy to advertise his philanthropy.

But don't come on here saying that an indigenous bloke from Yalgoo needs to read some shyte from shit for brains Jake Niall in Melbourne to learn about incarceration of aboriginal people!

Just piss off already.

I also dismissed the notion that the poster needed to be informed;so yeah definitely lacks any impact at all.

OK Bushie, fair call, I didn't clearly put that well enough. My bad. I will try to explain in more detail, sorry if I don't get it across or if it is tl:dr...

I am sorry, it wasn't ever my intention to suggest that Josh needed to read the article to "open his eyes" (or however you want to put what you thought I meant) to the impact of jail.

I'm not suggesting he isn't aware of the incarceration issues, indeed I am already well aware (through mates that are in the same prison system) that many of Josh's extended family are in the penal system already.

What I meant by "needs to read this" was much more intended to focus on the sentiments expressed by Liam about the emotional and spiritual impact of the loss of contact with the key people in his life, including mentors and external figures.

One of the things that was most powerful for me from that article, and which (from extended, repeated personal experience) incarcerated young people fail to realise (until they are genuinely locked up for a significant period in an adult medium security jail) is how hard it is for already stretched young fellas to cope with the loss of regular contact with the key leadership figures in their life.

It isn't being locked up, so much as not being able to see the people that have become so fundamental to the structure and pace of their life, that creates such an overwhelmingly negative reaction to even the shortest of gaol terms.

Sadly, much of the "street goss" has it that "tough guys" (or girls) can just get through easy 'cause they will do it "breezy". This view is actually well and truly accepted and believed (no matter what family members or support workers say) amongst the younger group because the credibility of their mates far outweighs the adult figures in their life.

One of the great insights of the article (and what I meant by saying Josh needs to read it) is showing that even a legendary, very senior figure such as Liam J is challenged by the sudden, total loss of contact with his footy mates. Even when locked up with his very close family, it is the loss of contact with the football mentors and supports that suddenly burns the most.

If Josh, and others, can look at what has happened to a senior man such as Liam and find some understanding of the pain of losing the structures of good blokes and top fellas that he meets through having a career in AFL, it will be a really useful exercise.

Even if he already knows that, reading the article will help him to understand why so few of the rest of us (white/non indig Aussies) don't understand how fleeting the AFL success story is, or why the incarceration process has such a dramatically negative impact on "talented footballers".

Look bushie slicedndiced - I know that I probably haven't explained any of what is in my head well enough - but I didn't mean at all to be condescending or judgemental towards Josh, and hopefully (if you can be bothered reading what I have said) I have come some way to making up for the impact of my post.

Dry your eyes cup cake. There is no rules about posting a song in my sig. Just like there is no rule about being condescending.

You post quotes of other posters in your sig all the time.

Yes, well written. But, what makes you think Josh is at risk of going to jail?
