A guy with Josh Smith’s attitude and work ethic would have been better suited to Gold Coast.

nearer his original home, and he’d likely play more games there.

but as he’s limited his career was always limited.
 
Seemed a nice guy, and definitely not on Vicky Park's DH List. Wish him well and hope he enjoyed his time at two AFL clubs and made some money along the way.

As others have said, Gold Coast was the perfect fit for him. He's a local boy, he has an exemplary attitude and may have been given more opportunities than the Eagles could offer.

Like Crocker, he has my respect for being an AFL footballer and for the hard work and determination that got him there.

If this is the end of his AFL career, he will be a fantastic pick up for Redlands, or wherever he may continue playing.

I reckon Gold Coast is still a good fit for him. He has been in two very successful footy systems. He is a neat player and would push for the 22 or offer good depth and professionalism. A flank or wing would suit him there.
 
Suns could do a lot worse that draft Smith, very honest footballer who did well whilst at Collingwood and has played in two very good sides to date. Always thought him better suited to a wing than a back flank.

Nope. The Suns can’t be a dumping ground for every player who doesn’t make it.

Smith is an ordinary, vanilla footballer who has already failed to make the grade at two clubs. Perhaps he was unlucky to only get a year at the eagles, or perhaps he was lucky to get that chance at all. Regardless, it’s time for somebody else to have a crack.

Had word of this a couple of weeks ago but Josh Smith has signed with De La Sale in the VAFA.
