Jumper clash fails

Its time for the AFL to step in and have white removed from home jumpers think Geelong North Collingwood need to change

Geelong changed to white against Pies and North at home because they understand their players being able to spot each other actually helps

No, the AFL actually need to grow a pair and enforce their own rules.

Eg, Geelong are forced into white shorts in most home games but they cave to North.

Also today's game and every time Carlton play away to Collingwood.

Sure, if they want to do that fine, but as far as I'm concerned Fremantle's home guernsey is most similar to Carlton's and what we're seeing here suggests that the notion is that Carlton's home guernsey and away shorts is the best contrast in away matches against Collingwood.

A throwback green anchor (as the default clash or a third option) would be great but JFC these kits that they went with in the semi final less than 12 months ago aren't a miles better option? Honestly??!

You have to wonder if Gil and the non existent ops manager even notice these constant eye sores. They are the worst competiton in the world

Just this, no need for any extra qualifiers. It is a bush league, just with enough of a captive audience that they have the finances to technically call themselves professional.

The biggest shitsh*w international professional league you can think of is not run as poorly as the AFL.

Hello… they wore their white shorts against North last week. At home!

I thought Adelaide v GWS last night was quite clashy. GWS should have had a white jumper for this game last night

Some absolutely bizaare comments in this thread.
"Freo's white jumper isn't much better against Collingwood"
"Freo need another clash jumper"

No. Freo have always worn white against Collingwood and it's never been a problem. Yesterday was just as bad as Collingwood vs Carlton. Adelaide vs GWS last night is the exact same situation. I assumed Fremantle packed the wrong jumpers yesterday but no, GWS also wore their home in a game they usually don't. God only knows why the afl does this

I think we’ve seen this weekend that some clubs need a 3rd clash.
Agree I don't understand the hesitancy. It's embarrassing the desperation that both the clubs and the AFL hold to the traditional aspects of the game. Whether that be white shorts for away team or the need for essendon to have the red sash or Collingwood to wear black and white stripes despite being the away team.
It's a real chance for the clubs to get creative with designs and colours that people will buy if they are only in use for a limited time, they can be changed on a yearly basis

Should not be wearing white shorts against a side with white on their jumper, it really shouldn't be hard.
Because of the stupid white shorts policy.
Teams with majority white should be wearing white shorts nearly every week (as geelong do out of common sense)

Wouldn't be a problem in either game if Hawthorn or Richmond wore coloured shorts, but also no clash in either game as played (and arguably the contrast is clearer in WC v Richmond with the white shorts, if only marginally). Fair enough to gripe if you think it's a policy forcing the away side into white shorts - but given Hawthorn wore this same jumper away to GC with brown shorts earlier in the year, seems more likely to just be a choice or an ad hoc league direction rather than some fixed policy. Definitely no need for North to ditch the blue shorts for home games against clubs like Hawthorn, that's exactly the kind of needless meddling that turns people against sensible clash policies.

Collingwood v Fremantle yesterday was disastrous. I've never liked the aesthetic of that match-up with Fremantle in the white kit (nor Port when they play away to Collingwood and do the same), and so some sort of clearly different (red/green?) third kit would look better in that context, but the white-based kit does do enough to create sufficient contrast, which white shorts with the (dark) purple guernsey simply and clearly didn't yesterday. Symptomatic of an unaccountable league, really - they figure, on the only metric they care about, that it doesn't hurt their bottom line, so they don't bother addressing it (and when was the last time the pliant media raised any significant criticism of such decisions?)...
