We get through 80 overs locally in 4.5ish hours with a bunch of old pricks, hungover blokes and blokes that don’t know what cricket is and it seems to work well enough.

Yep the Poms dragged their heels deliberately in Brisbane and are doing the same here.

Feel sorry for Warner, he battled well and really stuck the course until that final shot.
He can rest that rib injury now, knowing he has done his job.

Poms bowled too short today, serve 'em right.
They will melt tomorrow in 40 degree heat...you watch the field rotations go off the charts. ;)

Pleased he made runs but will never feel sorry for that flat track bully and complete dead shit. Secretly I am happy we were spared the sight of him carrying on like a tosser on making a ton.

There’s a lot here I don’t disagree with.

I like Australia winning and making runs but it has to be at the expense of Warner.

The carry on about him by commentators is nauseating. They never comment on his dross weasel record overseas which is so poor his passport should be withdrawn.

Meanwhile the Poms are bowling military medium on an autobahn.

After sandpaper gate I also enjoy the fact he is at first slip with no tape on his hands. I will flat out believe forever and a day it was Warner and always was for the culture in those rooms. Bancroft was the newbie who got pressured into it. Smith was the skipper who probably knew about it but wasn’t his doing. It always has had that Warner greasy feel about it.

But other than that. Bus Change can bat as much as I wouldn’t be able to play with him I don’t hate how he goes about it.

Aye. Loose Change can bat on and on. He is a genuine wacker but in the best sense. He would be weird to bat with. I think I would be laughing a lot. A bloke like him may have stilled my natural inclination to sledge tripe bowling and oppo fielding errors when batting.

I feel like I am a little similar to him. Undiagnosed ADHD. And eat shit Butler

But anyway back to the point sorry. He’d be a campaigner to play against Bus Change. He’s just an old school cricketer in a new school world with his idiosyncrasies. It’s hard not to like him

Yep. I completely agree.

And then we declare late in the day, and make them face the pink ball under lights - good luck!!!

Like The Greatest Ava and other posters I just love Test cricket. While the score at stumps seemingly showed a lack of urgency ( a bit like the Pom's over rates) it had its gripping moments and decent contests between bat and ball.

Yesterday I really enjoyed Anderson's efforts in conditions that do not suit. He did not bowl near his best but is such a tough minded cricketer he gave each batsman plenty to think about. He looked knackered in the heat yesterday but will again trudge on to a sweltering hot day and do his thing.

Hopefully we get through to drinks without much damage and then exact a toll on the scoreboard, English bodies in the heat before as Phil said having a crack in the night session.

What critics of yesterday's scoring rate fail to realise is that a Test match goes for 5 days - 2 for 221 off 90 overs is infinitely more effective than being dismissed for 240 off 60 overs. It's all about building a position of strength and wearing the opposition down, and if we get to 400 today, I reckon only 1 team can win the game.

Interesting. The news over here is pretty much saying we’ve messed up again.

I didn’t follow it yesterday though so guess I’ll wake up and hope for competitive news.

Can understand the English media reaction.

"Resting" Wood was an error unless they thought he would break down. The English mediums had a sameness to them. I guess they kept Woakes because the English tail is fragile.

Your keeper had a nightmare. He took one very good catch, missed one tough chance and dropped a sitter. Keepers are judged by what they miss, not by by what they take. Buttler will be under great pressure when he eventually bats.

The Poms should replace Buttler with Foakes, so they can have Woakes, Foakes, and Stokes in the same team on Boxing Day :-).

England's attack lacks penetration, how Wood didn't get a guernsey is beyond me. They all bowled far too short and when they are batting they will see where you need to bowl with a new pink ball. Expecting to see the scoring rate pickup late in the 1st session and free the arms in the second. Have a bowl at them upon sundown with around 420 plus. Go the Aussies!!!!!

I read yesterday that Wood bowled a very quick spell in the nets during one of the breaks, as if to say to the selectors, "Why the hell didn't you pick me?"

Agree with Wood, he is a significantly better bowler than pretty much all of the English attack.
He is also a point of difference in an attack that feels very same same
