Seems to think a another uncontracted Eagle could be on his way to Carlton via the pre season draft, anyone spring to mind at all? Obviously could be a load of shit but does anyone know anything about this?

That would go down alright indeed, I heard he was contracted though? I must be wrong.

This rumour has been going on for a while. Teh OX also was confident that something could happen and was under the impression that the player is Embley. You know what they say, where there is smoke........

I heard Swann have a go at KB over his silly Judd trade comments. Was funny. Something I didn't realise, is that Clubs are forced to "commit" to players they'd take in the PSD. This seems to be binding. If someone really wanted to avoid the Tiges, all they'd have to do is keep a very low profile, and as soon as the Tiges "commit", they'd then magically nominate, and fall through to the Blues. Interesting. So, IF Swann has convinced someone to go to the Blues via the PSD, there is no doubt he'd encourage them to disguise the fact until the last minute. :)

Well in that case, Brian Waldron is a ****ing moron. Embley is under contract at the Eagles.
Are you sure?

I've heard alot of talk about Embley from a few different places.

Would be a great pick up though.

Appartently they were talking to someone from carlton about an uncontracted eagles player on SEN. Did anyone hear that, and what did they say?

Is that true? If so we may be able to snare someone if Richmond commit to Brennan?

That's what Swann said. It happened to us last year. We comitted to Ackland, and then Michael came up. I think it's because the Club has to actually negotiate and sign a contract ahead of the PSD. So if the Tiges manage to convince someone like Brennan, they'd have to get a contract signed ahead of the PSD. And if another player "Magically" appears after the signing, then the Tiges couldn't get out of the contract with Brennan. It's an interesting situation this year, because everyone wants to join the Blues, and everyone wants to avoid the Tiges. As soon as the Tiges commit to some poor unfortunate, we might see a number of options appear. :)

This is a big problem with this system, Richmond can just sit back and cherrypick any hard work that Carlton put in. Richmond may be incapable of luring players like Judd Embley or Brennan from their clubs so they end up just sitting at the table on PSD draft day and looking at the final list of nominees and just picking the best one there. Hardly fair on Carlton if they've done all the hard work to build the sort of club environment req'd to attract these sorts of players to nominate, in the hope they'd get to Carlton.

This is what makes SEN such a good source of info.

Moments before Waldron said Embley, KB had said, "in the last few days we have been getting loads of SMS's saying Embley is going to the Blues in the PSD." He thwen put this to Gregg Swann who was being interviewed at the time, who said "really? Great, we had better go and talk to him then "
Waldron will have been listening waiting for his interview...............VRS.:o

Is Ashley Hansen contracted?
I thought he was out of contract, and there was some talk prior to trade week of him coming home (as there always is).........would be a good pickup.

But the Tiges problem is the stumbling block.
Why, apart from shear stupidity, would they lock in Brennan any earluier than they have to (i.e. they don't have to commit prior), when the names Embley and Hansen are being tossed around?

Can't see us pulling a swifty on them......unless they are REALLY stupid.........which is possible.;)

Any word on Brennan? Why on earth would you want to leave Brisbane to go to Richmond. Bias aside, Brisbane are going places fast, Richmond are at least 3 years off the pace

Richmond are the ultimate Basket Case, and they'd have to offer huge money to tempt someone. If the Lions are thereabouts, I doubt he'd leave. I really hope Miller can convince someone (anyone) to join his disaster of a Club in the PSD. Will gives us options. :)

They will commit early if their is a player looking for a contract and a reason to leave their club. Brennan may go, ok Tigers I want a 3 year contract for $x and I want it now or I will sign with the Lions. It is not in Brennan's interest to wait until to PSD.

Hmmm, I suppose that's possible.
Lets hope eh.:thumbsu:

Im quite sure Embley is contracted until 2009. Im not too sure on which players are uncontracted though.

Richmond are shit, that snake Miller will sit back until draft day unless Brennan agrees to Richmond. As I said yesterday Richmond are on the nose.

Hasn't brennan said he wants to go to the bombers?

Could imagine miller running around to all uncontracted players trying to setup meetings with them and being told who no way get outta here.
Tigers as a specie are endangered and the footy team is no different.

You don't 'have to' commit to a player prior to the draft. Last year we had to commit to Ackland because we were trying to convince him to leave his club. He wouldn't have left if he wasn't sure he had somewhere to go. Committing to a player is a choice a club can make.
