I would rather keep Johnno (23 next month), Mundy (22), Campbell (22), Murphy (22) and Grover who's 27 - that pick up another older player. McGregor is 26, and I really hope we don't pick him up at the expense of one of our younger players who have 4 years development and still loads of upside. If we are going to trade one of them, I would hope it's for either a pick or a midfielder aged under 25.

Unless McGregor can slot straight in and play FB releasing McPharlin to play CHB... then seriously - what for??? We don't need any more forwards... especially tall ones.

If not mids - then a strong full back. Otherwise, AFAIC - pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssssse noooooooooo.

It makes one or two of Michael Johnson, Antoni Grover, Ryan Murphy, David Mundy and Adam Campbell superfluous.

Should be an interesting trade period.

We may steal him for free and offload one or two of the above. Not saying its right, just saying it may happen.

Seriously though, if we are seriously considering McGregor then we'll have to unload someone to free up some cap space. I'll be angry if we lose Bell, Hasleby and Murphy and replace them with Ray and McGregor.

dom, Harvey, Wallis and German will either make or break Mundy this summer - he won't be the same player next year, but I will be very surprised and disappointed if he is traded (or even considered for trading).

I'll be angry if we end up with Ray or McGregor at all in '08. They are not what we need - we'd be better to develop what we've got and top up in the draft.

On McGregor as a key backman, I'm re-watching the Freo v Crows (in Adelaide) game now and Pav smashed him. I don't think he's the answer down back for us. Grover, McPharlin and Dodd/Johnson are better options. I'd like to see us draft a solid defender for the future though.

ADELAIDE key-position player Ken McGregor will sign a two-year contract with the Crows, ignoring overtures from West Australian and Victorian clubs.

McGregor, 26, decided on Monday he preferred to stay in Adelaide rather than consider options at Fremantle, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs.
His management yesterday accepted a new deal at West Lakes, one McGregor's manager says was sweetened by the Crows in recent days.
