Guerrilla Games lead designer, Eric Boltjes, who is currently working on the rather impressive PlayStation 4 launch title Killzone Shadow Fall, has revealed – via a twitter exchange – that the game’s multiplayer will, ideally, be running at a super smooth 60 frames-per-second.

“Yes it is true we are targeting 60fps for the Multiplayer” he said, when asked to confirm earlier reports coming out of Gamescom. Boltjes also confirmed that the game’s single player campaign mode, perhaps surprisingly, will only run at 30fps.

Will definitely buy once I eventually get a PS4, got a soft spot for all the Killzone games, and even feel like I'm the only one that thought the 1st Killzone was actually good. Not as hyped as a lot of games, but I get the vibe it might just be special.

It's so damn gorgeous. Not just from a visual fidelity level, but colour wise it's outstanding.

That, running in 60fps will be amazing.

Boltjes confirmed that Shadow Fall will have dedicated servers. However, the servers will only act as a hub between different game clients and any game logic will not be hosted on the servers. “Almost all logic relating to you (e.g. moving, shooting and taking damage) runs on your local PS4,” stated Boltjes, “with only a very small portion of the game logic (i.e. mission/scoring logic) running on the ‘session master’, one PS4 in the game selected for its connection quality.”
This means that people with slower Internet connections will have a better (keyword “better”) time playing the game than if matches were player-hosted. Of course, satisfaction is never guaranteed when you mix the disastrous formula of lag and competitive play.
