wow if the dockers got fraser mcciness and shane kersten with the first two picks i would be massively excited. mcciness a 197cm kpd will probably take a couple of years to fill out a bit and find his feet but a huge amount of potential there, and then shane kersten who last year was being talked about as a potential top 5 pick but been struck down by injuries this season. these two would go a long way to solving the dockers lack of young kpp problems. and if we didnt get mcciness with our first pick and talia was still there, i dare say we would have a crack at him

I'm trying to get a grasp on how good Longer is without seeing him play much

I've heard that he is pick 5 just because GC will pick him up at 6, why are GC after him anyway?

Where does he rate compared to gorringe/Lycett?

Grigg sounds like an interesting player, any chance that he'll slip due to his lack of pace Knightmare? Like the sound of Crozier too!

Grigg shouldn't fall beyond the top 10. Form this year has been sensational and is too good for those bottom sides to overlook.

Crozier I'm a big fan. Will likely over his first couple of seasons suffer from serious inconsistancy + frustrate, but with time could develop into an absolute monster. Really exciting player.

Freo have had some really good recent drafts, but just haven't had the high level KPPs to take you over the edge. Think once again you should do well and take some really nice value out of it.

Kersten might be a slider because he is a bit of a tweener, but very high level talent. Like his game also. Draft position is a little bit of an unknown though with varying views.

Slightly better than last years top pair, but not a whole lot in it. Lycett in particular last year should have gone allot higher than he did.

Longer could still be an option for Port.A, just depends like last year whether you decide you need to address other holes first.

Gold Coast don't need any more ruckman. But it's just a case of if Longer's available GWS by pick 5 they just really need to get a ruckman to build around and it's not worth risking the chance that he might get taken.

Numbers

Just wondering your thoughts on the percentage or numbers of the players that will be drafted and or rookied from the draft combine invitees.

Just wanted to clarify how many are going to Combie (120 or 104).

Tassie contingent

Looks like Tassie will have the following contingent going to the Draft Combine & State Testing. The good old Mercury indicated Joseph was not invited to the Draft Combine.

Draft Combine:
Dobosz
Mihocek
Schade
Joseph
Brown
Webster

State Testing:
McKenzie
Owen
Riley
Musicka

Thinking that a 6/1 or 5/2 split most likely outcome.:thumbsu:

Spread so far

Interested to note that no NT, QLD or NSW/ACT players have been listed in either of the 3 catergories for the draft combine.

Considering population and funding they receive it must be disaapointing for those paid AFL staff that they haven't cracked an invite so far.

Haven't bothered to include the state invitees.

Of the 88 draft combine invitees from last year, 60 of them were taken in the National Draft (or taken by the Gold Coast in one way or another). While 11 more found homes in the Rookie Draft, and the other 17 missed out completely.

Did a search, and couldn't find Andrew Boseley's name mentioned in this thread. Is he a potential FB/CHB for the Tigers to look at, and what pick would the Tigers need to use to get him?

Again, he's not in your calculations, but after having a couple of good games against Patton, a HS article a few days ago has him coming into Rd 1 contention. Possible he'd be one the Tigers look at with pick 32'ish?

I'm expecting Boseley will be one who climbs up the rankings in the next couple of months.

Can't argue with performances, and he has consistently had Patton's measure. Plus he is very good athletically, and uses that well in one on one contests. If I remember correctly, Knightmare had a rookie draft up at one stage and Boseley was around the #50 mark in that.

Lacking the talent from those states this year.

Add to that the better ones can be zoned by GC - QLDers. GWS - NT+NSW.

Bosley is a chance. Had him in and out of my draft order. Certainly a good chance of going in one of the drafts.

Is that year older but performances have been solid down back.

32 probably too early. 3rd rounder and beyond for mine.

Find it strange you dont have Alex Benbow in there. Been playing really well for Dandenong and is co-captain with Buntine, Was BOG on the weekend

Having a good season and obviously a quality mid.

But at his size more likely to go as a rookie as those before him have.

Just updated thread.

Updated draft order + selections.

As well as this added my power rankings which is essentially where I rank players disregarding the order they will be selected on draft day as well as team needs at those specific selections.

So for eg. Brett Eddy won't go inside the top 30 on draft day - due to season ending knee injury at VFL level.

It's pretty much my interpretation of where these players should be selected based on how good these players will be over the span of their career - will likely continue to change drastically as the draft draws nearer so don't take it too seriously and just consider it a unique extra.

Hey Knightmare,

I hope the Tiges will take 2 mids with first 2 picks ideally. What are the knocks on Kerridge? Seems a really good size and could easily interchange with Martin playing mid/forward role?

I've got Richmond taking 2 mids with the first 2 selections.

The two I gave Richmond with those first 2 selections at this stage are McKenzie + Waldhunter. I did this intentionally because the Richmond midfield is lacking those taller midfielders with high skill levels. Both McKenzie + Walderhunter both have long penetrating kicks and would make really ideal targets with those first 2 selections. McKenzie being more of a mid/flanker. Walderhunter more of an inside, hard tackling type to add some variety.

As for Kerridge. Bit of a project and probably not quite ready to play immediately. Doesn't have a complete game yet but is coming along nicely. Could become better defensively - accountability, running back as hard as he does forward. Tackling can be improved. Skills could improve but hardly terrible.
But there is a hell of allot to like and has major upside with some of the weapons he is building into his game.

Appreciate the info mate. Sounds like u may have nailed two picks for us there. We won't go Kerridge if his kicking isn't great. Though i think we may end up with closer to pick 10. We never beat Melbourne or Adelaide at AAMI. Then i wouldn't see the point winning the last round.

Thanks Knightmare.... would be happy to see the Tigers pick him up based on what I've heard, particularly if we're talking about it being with a pick in the latter half of the draft.

I've seen you have add the priority picks for Port Adelaide and Gold Coast but not for Brisbane do you think that Brisbane will win a game in the next three I would'nt think so the have the hardest draw of the three teams and would hope they take a defender as we need a center Half- Back who would you suggest would be avilable in the 29 to 34 zone.

What size are Mckenzie and Waldhunter Knightmare?

McKenzie - 188cm, Waldhunter - 184cm.

Hey Knightmare..love your work like always. What do you think of Adelaide's prospects in this draft?

Unclear who will be available at Adelaide's 1st selection. Will be a number who might/might not be available. Some who might be looked at if available include: Dom Tyson, Toby Greene, Elliot Kavanagh, Devon Smith, Sam Docherty and Brad McKenzie.

2nd round Josh Waldhunter, Luke Brown and Clay Smith will likely be looked at.

Will add later on.

Mihocek could be an option with that extra pick.

they are pretty much mids yeah?? Knight? I imagine we are definately looking at them with our first pick or two. Definately a weakness at the crowies.

All those Knightmare suggested are pretty much solid midfielder except for Docherty, McKenzie, Clay Smith (I think) who are flankers, whilst Devon Smith, who played midfielder as a junior, will play more of a small forward drifting into midfielder (LeCras role) I think.

McKenzie - 188cm, Waldhunter - 184cm.

McKenzie is a mid/flanker. Devon Smith mid/fwd - small. Docherty - high level attacking back flanker. Luke Brown - high level small defender, Clay Smith - Mid/Fwd.

But otherwise mids.
