Knightmare What kind of skills are we looking at for Junior Stretch? I like the sound of lightening pace but does he have the kicking skills to go with it?

Footskills are not a problem. There are more damaging guys by foot but he's still relatively good by foot.

Hi there knightmare.....After Caleb Marchbank's dominant display for Vic Country Vs Metro surely he must get a gig inside your top 60 now.....Shaping as the number one tall defender of the draft!

Marchbank was good. If he can beat some more of the better key forwards through the u18 champs then no question he works his way into draft calculations.

Marchbank was one of many Country defenders who beat their guys. That whole back half was clicking, taking intercept mark after intercept mark and they all on the day beat their opponents which was the difference on Sunday between the two teams with that back half really on top of the Metro forwards.

He's one I'll be continuing to watch over coming weeks. I'll commit that much.

KM

any word on Beasley from the charges and if he has any draft selection potential, or is he ceiling a vfl player?

Continuing to improve and playing well forward and back. Taking some strong contested marks. Was unfortunate to get overlooked last year as one of those in the mix.

Not certain he has key forward talent at AFL level but key defender talent possibly. Still has draft chances with further improvement. Will re-assess Beasley at seasons end but his chances in my mind come down to how quickly his development continues. As a key position player if it's a sharp improvement in play then he has the opportunity to again attract interest.

Hi knightmare there is a young kid named William Gowers who players for Oakleigh Chargers is he the son of Hawthorn ex player and now football director at Hawthorn Andrew Gowers. If so what do you think of him could he make his way to Hawks as his dad only played 89 games with us. Is he good enough for the hawks to jump on him at 16 if he is still there at our first pick which you have 16 in your phantom draft instead of Weller which you have hawks getting.

Hi Knightmare, great work as usual, if Hawthorn were going to pick a Key Defender (any round), which players do you think would be best suited for the Hawthorn team?

Wowee KM, that's quite a rise for Heeney! Has this been from you having seen more of him or more word of mouth? (That Cal Twomey guy has really been talking him up).

Gowers isn't going in the first round.

If drafted he could probably be had as a rookie.

Caleb Marchbank is looking good. He's the pick of the bunch of the key defenders. Excellent stopper and very capable intercept marker making him a good choice.

The more I've assessed his game and looked closely at what he can do. Good height, athletic, strong, wins it inside and outside and the production is there. Skillset fine. In a year relatively lean of top end midfielders he looks like a strong get and a guy who can have big success at the next level.

Okay, so every year I just grab a favourite and cross my fingers that Port are a chance (Day, Wingard, Stringer, Aish) and this year is Tom Lamb.

It seems the general consensus is that at this stage, he's projected at around 9-11ish... any chance he'll slide further or is his versatility basically cementing the fact that he'll be a high pick? (I know it's early, but hey, it's fun to dream)

Lamb could go 5-15. It's plausible he goes late first round but unlikely at this point.

Knightmare Harrison Court isn't in your phantom yet, but he's the one you should be watching from WA at the moment. Really stood out for Claremont early in the season and was great in the second WA trail game.

Has the speed, size and disposal to make it at the highest level. Probably doesn't have the game to be a first rounder but he's a good and safe pick for the second round.

Knightmare, the lions are after a key position forward. Who is most likely to get picked out of Wright, McCartin, Goddard and Durdin? And although people are already saying McCartin will be pick 1, is he tall enough to be a dominant key forward in the afl? thanks

The Saints are also after a key position forward. The final ladder position is going to be very important this year. This week either richmond or GWS are going to overtake the Saints who will be in position for pick three. By the end if the year it will be either St.Kilda or Brisbane with pick 0ne.

Yeah, i'm not overly concerned about ladder places, they all seem to be very even so we'll get one of them, we'll know later in the year

Km, what do you think of young laverde?

He's an interesting player. Nice height. Good athlete. Finds the ball. Good mark overhead. Good user by foot. The issue with his game is his decision making ability. He can try to do a little too much taking on the game at the wrong times into traffic or just choosing the wrong target.

He has the opportunity to feature in the second or third round.

The question of who would be most likely for Brisbane at pick 1 is unclear and there isn't a consensus.

I'd be going Wright. Others like Durdin. Some say McCartin is the better fit.

McCartin can be a no.1 key forward/go to guy for a team. Being 193cm I'm not so fussed. Same height at Roughead. He does have a decided size advantage in the u18s but he has the marking ability/ground level/skills and professionalism to succeed at the next level.

I'd just be taking Wright first though. That's all. He's already just as good/just as productive as a key forward and then also has extra versatility and extra height and with it likely the greater potential for development.

KM - Should be another cracker of a game this Saturday between W.A. v S.A who do you think will win and what are both sides strengths? Keep up the good work!!!

SA at home I feel will be better.

SA are the stronger bodied, better skilled team.

The edge WA have is a pace/athleticism superiority and expect a number of their guys to break the lines.

As with my Metro preview (not that I go the outcome right - thanks Metro for leaving out Petracca!) I tend at this level to back in the team with the bigger/stronger bodies.

What would be a pass mark in your opinion for Waterman in this game? What is the competition going to be like against the SA mids?

I'm hoping the SA under 18's captain Jake Johansen from the Port Adelaide Magpies can be picked up with Ports 3rd rounder.

He doesn't seem to be high up at all in these phantom drafts. Highest I've seen him is 50th.

I dont know if anyone else has pointed this out to you, but why have you given Essendon a pick in the second round?

There are some strong SA mids. Bampton and Gore particularly have strong bodies and can match Waterman. If Waterman wins his matchup and collects 20+ disposals and uses it well then he's done his job.

Not that I can compare them to SA, but Walsh, Hardisty, Waterman , Clark, Walters and Winton are a solidly built bunch of midfielders.

WA do have more size than usual. Just across the line-up SA not only in the midfield but across the field have the more seasoned bodies while WA have some lighter guys with Pickett, C.Smith (not that you'd know the way he plays), Ah Siu among others.

How concerning is Clem Smith's disposal? Definitely the sort of player our recruiters get excited about.

Jakey is the proverbial 'live-wire' - Port should snap him up.. but we already have Neade and Gray.
