The rumour out of Melbourne is that Hogan has stress fractures again (hope not true)
He's been training just fine, just yesterday in fact.

Keep it up though buddy, maybe one day one of the random "rumours" you pull out of your ass will come true.

Knightmare Christian Petracca, Patrick McCartin and Angus Brayshaw. You've gotta draft one, kill one and marry one. GO.

Hang on, kill one? We still want two of the three regardless of who you pick.

Where did u here this?

The medico is a friend said his being monitored closely but will have to ease into AFL -Stress fractures are common in growing talls think it was Kosi who had them same age still played 10 games first year.

Anyway all the best to him..

Now seems that a few boys are climing into contention for top 10.
1.Langdon
2.Durbin
3.Weller

Ones blowing are
1.Wright
2.Ahern
3.Lamb

Do you mean Langford?

The Draft order is out and Brisbane have 3 live picks at 65 73 and 81 and Josh Clayton at 85
who would be the player's that in proximity you think Brisbane would take

Josh Watts, Joshua McGuinness, Jason Castagna, Daniel Butler are among those I can see Brisbane looking at late. Perhaps a mature ager like a Nic Newman if looking for a more immediate guy.

Late draft it's just guesswork.

hi KM, what are the main reasons you've selected menadue over cockatoo for carlton at #19?

Menadue has been linked to Carlton and he seems from reports most likely to go either to Essendon with one of their picks at 17/20 or Carlton at 19.

How is Taylor Grace averaging 32 touches in TAC cup but hardly rates a mention anywhere? What's the issue with him... Pies at 85?

Grace is productive but not a below average kick, not super quick. Just lacking a bit of x-factor and he can have his 32 touches out there and you'll often hardly notice him with his touches generally low impact/quiet.

In making those comments he could late draft/rookie draft be in the mix given his strong performances. I just would have liked a bit better in the VFL with his numbers at that level not as strong as Langdon's.

KM,
With the final draft order announced Rischmond have 12,33,52,67,77 and 83(Miles). Does this mean we will use 77 (making our list 39 and 5) or that we will have it up our sleeve just in case there is someone there we want?

Pick 77 may be used. It may be passed on for either a PSD pick or just left completely to save $. When you get that late into the draft unless you know Richmond's thinking it could go either way.

Hey KM (other posters welcome), not sure how well you know your over agers but what about Brett Eddy from the SANFL? A poster on the Lion board threw out some more names such as Ricky Vary from Swan Districts, Cameron Loersch from South Fremantle and KPD Michael Hartley from Collingwood. Any bit of info you could share if you can thanks. Saw a small highlights package of Eddy and he looks like a good prospect with his speed, power and recovery while sitting around the 194cm mark. Thanks in Advance.

Eddy is good and is the most productive key forward outside the AFL. Just a really good quality tall who particularly over the first half of the season was absolutely outstanding.

Ricky Cary had a breakout season in the WAFL going from a mostly reserves player in the past. Had a good season as a key forward at that level but not on my draft radar.

Cameron Loersch is a nice tall overager from WA. Very well and can play forward or ruck well, mostly playing forward this year. But given he has mostly only played colts and isn't dominant at that level he is more someone else where he just needs more time and isn't a standout option at this point.

Michael Hartley I like. He is another Prestigiacomo as a really good stopper who can beat his direct opponent almost every week but won't find much if any of his own ball. As a role player he is worth a shot for that role.

Who are the players around the doggies pick with some serious explosive pace? And some good key backs

If a Cockatoo/Garlett/Menadue fall through I imagine the Dogs scouts would be licking their lips as guys who can really inject some explosive pace. Blaine Boekhurst would probably be the more realistic guy around the Dogs first pick for pace and as a mature ager he could probably contribute more immediately. Maybe a Nathan Drummond, Jason Castagna or Daniel Butler later in the draft though none of them are terrific kicks.

As for key defenders. Marchbank or Lever in the surprising scenario one or the other slide. Otherwise Oscar McDonald is the guy to look out for as a key defender in the second round.

Hi KM,

Apologies for adding to the massive list of questions, but whereabouts do you get the reasoning for the kangas picks? Is it from word on the grapevine of who they are looking at, or just personal opinion of fit? I only ask because the kangas board has us looking very interested in alternatives at those picks, like:

16 - Garlett (Cockatoo or Weller or Durdin)
25 - Vickers-Willis (R McKenzie or McDonald)
36 - Langdon (McKenzie or Lonie)

Not having a go, (absolutely love the effort put in) but as a Roo's supporter, I would be pretty devastated with those 3 over any of the alternatives listed.

My power rankings don't relate in any way to where I see guys going in the phantom draft. Garlett has been strongly linked to North Melbourne and Gold Coast as well as a few other teams in the teens and should go roughly in that draft range. Whether Garlett is preferred to the others who will be available is to be determined.

Vickers-Willis is a tall running player who can play a bit of anywhere. He seems like a list fit. Perhaps he goes in the 30s. Reece McKenzie could be a possibility though it seems he will go later, or at least if you believe Cal Twomey who seems to think R.McKenzie will go 50 onward. Oscar McDonald could go in that draft range around 25 and probably is there but I don't see a key defender as North Melbourne's priority.

Ed Langdon I expect for pace will be looked at and that's roughly the range he'll go. North don't have all that many small options up front and I can see with that third pick North looking at the small forward options. Lonie could be another though Langdon is considered more likely to go before Lonie with Langdon really performing strongly at the draft combine.

Not good news for the young fella if true.

If the Saints end up picking McCartin @ 1 as speculated today, would the Dees look at pulling the trigger of Peter White with pick 3? Particularly if Hogan has consistent injury concerns.

Melbourne I can't imagine will go for Wright at 3. They need midfielders and would pick both Petracca and Brayshaw ahead of McCartin I imagine if they had picks 1 and 2.

Sounds like an episode of snog, marry avoid.

Langdon and McDonald would be my risers. Both during the year have been seen as more late picks and are now top 30 chances. Blaine Boekhorst same.

Durdin and Weller have always been in the top 10 mix so nothing is changing there.

Wright has certainly slid down draft boards. Lamb has from earlier in the year. Ahern with his draft position up in the air could be a slider.
I'd be looking more at the extreme sliders. Jesse Watchman as one example as a potential first rounder going into the draft. Clem Smith who people saw as a first rounder could and probably does go later in the draft. I'm sure there are others who don't immediately come to mind who fit into this category.

Hi KM, do you know anything about Ethan Hughes from the WAFL?

Don't know much about him and haven't heard any rumblings. Being those few years older and only played the two league games I can't imagine he will have generated all that much interest but looking at his numbers I like the strong upward trend and would say he is more someone next year to look out for more of if he establishes himself at League level and continues to further step things up at that level.

Knighta, who will you have going to StK for picks 1, 21 and 22 with next update (you mentioned you will do one last update before draft)?

Report in the West Australian North flew him over for a medical last week

I won't know until I've put together the update. Perhaps tonight. Perhaps tomorrow.

I'm not even decided as to whether McCartin or Petracca will be the eventual pick 1 as there seem to me mixed rumours at the moment. And at 21/22 it depends on who slides and who seems to be linked most strongly to those picks inbetween which may change also.

Interesting to hear.

Perhaps in the mix as a rookie would be my best guess.

Don't have any information you don't regarding that rumour.

Cheers knighta.

All the buzz as of now is Paddy goes #1. Callum Twomey has him there plus its all over twitter from other media outlets.

Cal has some interesting ones early and a few early surprises. Will be interesting to see which way it goes.

I've just completed my own update on page one to include all the final selections for all teams.

Why Pat? What has changed?

Hi KM,

With McCartin now likely taken at pick #1, how does he compare to the past few years of key forwards taken high?
Hogan, Boyd, Patton, Daniher etc..

Interested to see your rankings of the above players if they were all going in this draft with McCartin - based on your pre draft opinion of course!?

Thank you

Why Pat? What has changed?

It seems St Kilda want to go tall. Or so the recent media rumours suggest.

Tomorrow we may have more concrete information, or at least more opinions from people with more connections than I do as to who St Kilda likely take at pick 1.

McCartin isn't Boyd dominant and not as tall but he has a few more tricks.

On McCartin v the recent key forwards. I rate him behind Patton and Boyd certainly. I also favour Daniher and rated/still rate him more highly. Hogan and McCartin I have roughly in that same conversation.

McCartin is a guy I look at and think he has the opportunity to be a top 10 key forward in the game, but not a top few in the game key forward. So that is roughly what you could be looking at if things go right.

I think it's just the nature of this draft. I don't rate it as such a strong draft class for top end options. I'm just not seeing those franchise players or those top 2-3 on list level talents in this draft.

Without deferring to your phantom or power rankings, putting your StK recruiting hat on, who would you choose at 1?

It's not a year I'd want the number one overall pick but Petracca for me personally with a view to get Reece McKenzie as that go to forward at 21 or perhaps pick 41 if I went into the draft knowing with confidence Reece would be there.

Thanks. I feel the same way and suspect we will regret picking Paddy over CP, especially in the short term when CP is absolutely dominating and Paddy is developing in the ressies.
