Short, waits on the outside to receive rather than going in and winning it himself and not looking any better than he did this time last year.

Not a formula for success.

He has attributes and can do great damage - having the speed and ball use.

Ultimately, I'm looking at him as something like a shorter Jason Johannisen.

He's worth taking a chance on second round onwards, but I wouldn't be taking him inside the first round.
Surely they are different players?

JJ has pace and a penetrating kick but doesn't look half as natural with a football that Hill does. Also, all of Hill's field kicking I have seen is sublime which is definitely not something you could say for JJ.

I'd love for him to slip and us somehow get him in the 20s though.

I used to do profiles for the top 50s for bigfooty.

ESPN though don't want me submitting 50,000 word papers on these prospects. They want it cut down and readable, and 20 prospects is the number they advise me to include in my monthly power rankings.

And if you think about it, who really would read past the first 2000 words or so? I would, but for the average reader, it's too heavy.

Stack is much more advanced defensively at the same age/stage but doesn't provide nearly the same scoreboard impact of Bolton and per possession while impactful isn't as impactful on the same level.

Bolton the better talent of the two. Though Stack in his own right can play.
I'm much more interested in a list of top 50 prospects, but with less said about each prospect.

I think the top 20 gives too much content for each individual draftee, when I want a better cross-section of the total players available.

You're dreaming again, it's not unusual for highly touted youngsters to be guilty of undisciplined acts, that's an easy fix and comes with maturity.
Ben Ainsworth did far worse and still went around where he was expected in the draft. I'd be far more concerned with youngsters that have off field issues.
Maybe. He's clearly being very undisciplined about his footy, with his suspensions and now giving away to frees while his team was kicking for goal, which undoubtedly cost them the match.

Knightmare is there any chance you can put up a current top 20 of the 2019 draft year?
Also, how is the 2019 crop looking?

Certainly once the 2018 draft is done with, each year I then introduce a top 20 for the following year.

I prefer to give the current draft crop the shine during their year.

With that said, if there is a week where there aren't many games happening, I may address a few different things and bring up a number of those I view as top picks for 2019.

I agree with you on the kicking. Hill can use it really well - makes good decisions with it, his execution is good. That's the edge Hill has v Johannisen.

I'm just talking, similar style of play, can similarly be shut down being so outside and likely to be of similar quality.

I do this with my phantom drafts. I do full phantom drafts where I cover all those prospects I'm predicting get picked in the national draft. 1-2 sentences on each prospect as summary profiles to give readers a quick feel for what they bring to the table.

I wouldnt have thought he was anywhere near pick 1. I will have to watch how the Tasmanian bottom agers go this year.
He's been on fire , was close to best in the Australia v NZ game , was one of tassies best in academy series and one of allies best in trial against vics followed by another 25 possessions yesterday in Allies win over Vic country

He's outperformed pretty much all of the bottom agers and is an inside / outside midfielder . You may need to take a look

I will keep an eye on him.

KM in the 2019 draft crop where would Finn Maginness sit please.

I don't have him up the top end as I do Anderson, but he's one I suspect would be in the mix to go mid-late if the 2019 draft was today.

Still a lot of footy to be played obviously, so things change.

Not if Anderson keeps his performance up. Noah way too good for a bottom-ager - 4 goals and 20 touches today. Him and Rowell massive 1 and 2 chances at this stage.

Hayden Young from Dandy is in the conversation.

So no Anderson, Rowell or Young.

Is it Emerson Jeka?
Without seeing much of the interstate players Anderson is my clear number 1. Sandringham and Oakleigh will be very strong for the draft next year.

Hopefully some good NGA players for oakleigh next year ;)
