Re: Kosi gets two weeks

Thought it was a great tackle, trying to fire up his teamates and send a message within the rules of the game. 2weeks wtf

did Stokes get in trouble for hitting him in the groin?, little prick.

Re: Kosi gets two weeks

Once again a joke, but at least they've shown a small amount of consistency.

Hope they don't appeal

OP, watch the Trengove tackle again, where do you think the ball went? Reckon he disposed of it legally?

And as Firebat said, surely Kosi out is a good thing :p

I was against the Trengove suspension, was ridiculous then, still is, and now this happens. At least with Trengove you could see what their argument is, despite it being completely ridiculous. Dangerfield lost possession of the ball well before he hit the ground, and he missed the rest of the game through concussion.

In kosi's incident, although Duncan was dazed, he played on, he also took the ball to ground... If kosi lets go it's a clean cats possession! What the hell is he expected to do? Absolute sham of an organisation, MRP is a complete farce.

For what it's worth, Corey shouldn't have been cited either, same position as Kosi, he lets go of that tackle, it's a clean Saints touch if i remember it correctly.

Good post!
In my books (and most normal fans) both were good solid tackles in which they would've been told from a young age to do that in games if you get the chance.
Slowely but surely my appreciation for local footy is rising while the big league is becoming increasingly frustrating to watch by the year.

Re: Kosi gets two weeks

The Trengove decision was bad enough but this is beyond a joke.

With the Trengove tackle the ball had gone and he slung him around with his arm pinned. With Kosi's tackle it was just a normal forceful tackle with Duncan being in possession the whole time, unfortunately Duncan hit his head on the ground but accidents like that happen in football.

The only difference with the Corey tackle was that Steven got up OK while Duncan was concussed. The tackles themselves were very similar so even given that Kosi has a poor record it shouldn't result in a two week difference in the penalty. It's just ridiculous.

Nobody I have spoken to thinks it's intentional.
Ah yes, I forgot the unspoken Tribunal convention which is to pick up the phone to a Hawks fan and check whether anyone they have spoken to thinks that something was intentional when grading an offence.

So, please, share with us what you claim Franklin was doing if it wasn't intentional? Does he just run around with his elbow flicking out uncontrollably?

OP is spot on.

if kozi was a collingwood, wce, gc, adelaide or essendon player he would have got a free kick for holding the ball and wouldnt even be cited.

WTF, since when are the Crows kissed on the dick like that?

It's a joke of a decision though - same as the Trengrove suspension was a joke.

The MRP are morons, neither of those were a genuine sling tackle; both were just aggressive, good tackles.

I don't get the "High Contact" part of it. Both tackles were not high, it was just unfortunate that the players being tackled didn't land well. But neither player made "High Contact" it was there head hitting the ground.

They didn't land well because the tacklers had their arms pinned and drove their heads into the ground. A tackler still has a duty of care to not inflict head damage.

Completely agree with this part. Trengove should've gone, and Corey should've gone for what was bloody close to a spear tackle, but Kosi's was a perfectly legal tackle where the opponent was unfortunate to suffer incidental contact with the ground.

They've stuffed this up completely.

Re: Kosi gets two weeks

This must send a confusing message to the players, how are they now meant to tackle without fear of penalty?

Is this rule clear cut?

All depends on whether the player tackled gets injured or not. If Duncan got up OK the Kosi tackle probably wouldn't have even been looked at.

Seriously, have a look at the footage of Kosi's tackle and tell me you haven't seen hundreds of similar tackles go unpunished over the years.

Just another ridiculous knee jerk reaction from the MRP totally out of keeping with the way the game has been played for over 100 years.

Yep 100% agree. Both Kosis and Buddys suspensions were jokes of the highest order. I hope both clubs appeal and win.

We should appeal but I doubt it would do much good, probably just result in an extra week's suspension.

No doubt Adrian Anderson and the MRP will come up with some crap to justify it and we'll just have to cop it up the arse as per usual.

I know every team whinges, but coming from a neutral, St Kilda have copped as bad as anyone in the media, from the MRP, the AA selectors and the umpires the last few years. The AFL have really ****ed you in a lot of ways

The complete irony, is Buddy has been rubbed for opting to bump instead of tackling, and Kosi has been rubbed for opting to tackle instead of bumping.

Next time they should just opt to glare fiercely at the opposition player who takes possession of the ball.

St Kilda should appeal, the tackle did not make the player hit his head. The impact of his shoulder hitting the turf, causes the the head to hit the turf.

Unintentional.

Totally agree.

How, in the heat of a game, in a split second, can a tackler judge whether the player being tackled will hit his head on the ground?

Compare to Rhys Shaw getting tackled on the line in the final minutes against Carlton. The tackling action was exactly the same just that Shaw managed to free an arm at the last moment. Not even mentioned.

Haven't seen Trengove's as I'm on the road travelling around the country so can't comment on it. I did see both Kosi's and Corey's tackles. Both were good just like Mumford's was on Ablett last year.

The only one that I can remember in recent years that deserved weeks was the one Milburn got weeks for against Richmond 3 or so years ago.

Similar tackles yes.

Kosi has been suspended for at least 1 game every year for the past 4 years, Corey hasn't. Whether you agree with Good/Bad record loadings or not, it's a rule that's set in stone and everyone knows it (well should know, seems a lot of people in this thread don't).

Also pretty sure O'Keefe just got a reprimand?

Ryan O’Keefe, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a Level One bumping or making forceful contact from front-on against Marc Murphy, Carlton, during the first quarter of the Round 13 match between the Sydney Swans and Carlton, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday June 19, 2011.

In summary, due to a five-year good record, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.
