hopefully he doesnt get any injuries like we usually cop to our KPP's and plays all 22 games...should improve as the season wears on but would expect him to be better in 2006 with another pre-season under his belt..

He'll play as many as he plays depending if he earns a spot or not.

He's a kid (albeit with tremendous potential) but still just a kid. Anything more than a half dozen (from my pov) is a bonus.

He'll be in the selected squad for 18 games..
He'll be in the final 22 for 10 games..
He'll play about 615minutes on the ground..
He'll play two games where everyone goes off thinking about how bloody good he's going to be..
He'll be given number 23 next year.

Hope that helps.

wouldnt it be great to see him come out and kick 5 goals rnd 1
Indeed it would but probably not likely. Will probably just show glimpses of brilliance this first year rather than any sustained excellence. Will take a while for a 17yo draftee to develop and hold down a key position. Just hope the Hawks don't play him in any key posts until he is well and truly ready as a young body just will not cope. Am sure they won't. Expecting him to play mainly wing and HFF.

Is this a good thing that they hype is basically all on Lance and Not Roughie?

I think Roughead's injury might well have been a good thing in the end. The pre-season is generally a mutual flog-fest for clubs showcasing (and drooling over) their younger talents, and being such a high pick there would certainly have been some eyes turning to see how Jarryd would have gone - and some hoping to dig the knife in if he didn't perform.

Now he can settle and focus on playing himself into form at Box Hill without worrying too much about the spotlight.

Its a bit similar to our situation with Deledio and Tambling.one would think that Tambling went #1.Which is good for Deledio that any deflection from the pressure of being the #1 pick wont do any harm at all.Cooney from last wished he had that sort of deflection.
the same can be said in regards to Roughead and Franklin.Any deflection Franklin can take off Roughead the better it would be for him.

cheers!

Fair point T.O.O. Even the Dogs with Williams getting most of the talk ove Griffen is similar as well. Almost like all three clubs the '2nd choice' are the ones drawing the most attention, kinda weird but there it is.

Good pickup there Grendel, forgot about the Doggies Re:Griffen and Williams.
Thought Williams did alright when he got his chance considering his background.
If you can keep Franklin on the straight and narrow all clubs should be pleased with their "2nd choices" let alone their 1st.

cheers!
