Re: Lachlan Henderson

^^ When did MBF start sponsoring the Blues? :P

At about 11.05 today.

Kinda feel bad for Lions last night I was hoping to do Fev for EITHER Hendo or Pick 12. I am stoked.

In saying this, I can't see Blues challenging for the flag next season so I'll be aboad to LIONS 2010 support crew. I want to see Fev retire with a premiership.

Looks like Cloke, better not play like him...

Silver lining to the Fev cloud.

Hope he's a big part of Carlton success over the next 10 years. He is EXACTLY the kind of player we needed. Stoked he's coming to Carlton.

For what it's worth, hope Fev helps the Lions out and shows everyone he can learn his lesson. He's an exceptional footballer.

Re: Lachlan Henderson

Really good read throughout this thread, guys :thumbsu:

Looks and sounds like a really promising and quality kid that will be a very good player for a number of years.

As has been said by a number of Carlton supporters in here already, reminds me very much of the Josh Kennedy situation - supporters loved him and sad to see him go, and are wishing him all the best in his future endeavours, even if it is at another club.

mmmmm.. ouch... The boy from Birre is gone..

It will be interesting down at the local festival tomorrow to hear what is thought about it!

Market forces shape new Blue's future

It started ''happening'' on Wednesday, when Lachie Henderson rang his father to discuss what Brendan Fevola's potential move to Brisbane might mean to his chances of getting a regular game in the Lions' forward line. Henderson was soon on the phone again, telling Dad he had become the trade bait that could make the deal happen.

''He had 48 hours to make a decision. I thought he was pretty mature the way he went about it. He was fairly cut up when he decided to go, knowing what he was leaving, the mates he'd made and just wondering whether he was doing the right thing.''

Lachie Henderson just wanted a guernsey

FOR Lachie Henderson, moving back to Victoria last week as part of the Brendan Fevola trade was all about opportunity.

Once 19-year-old Henderson knew Brisbane had commited to Fevola, he realised his chances of getting a regular game with the Lions would be slim.

So he and his manager, Ricky Nixon, acted quickly.

I can imagine that riska may not be the most popular bloke if this kid can come good on his potenial.

I'd like to think our supporters are rational enough to not misdirect anger so stupidly.

Rischitelli had a contract and has the right to see it out.

Yeah, amazingly stupid post by Kruzering, what is he, 10?

So when the Lions fans turn on the TV and see Henderson kick a goal, they think of Rischitelli and are like you loser, look what you cost us.

IMHO, Henderson isn't that good.

We will definitely rue the fact that we let this kid go, absolute idiotoc trade. I hope Hendo becomes a star and murders us in a few years...will be priceless watching Voss' reaction.

You're quite the masochist Dylan.

Well, just bitterly disappointed we lost such a highly rated and quality individual who loved the Lions. I personally hope he has every future success he deserves. No doubt you too will be disappointed if Hendo turns into half the player Jono Brown is and knowing what we could have got at pick 12 tonight.

Absolutely, but I don't go so far as hoping Hendo rips us a new one. I prefer to hope for joyful things rather than those that will further embitter me. That attitude just seems miserably caustic. Each to their own.

Re Henderson- I may be in a tiny minority, I don't think he has shown anything to date to suggest he'll be an out and out star. He MAY be- KPP's can often be late developers and he is very young. But to me he always seemed reactive, uncertain, and a bit slow off the mark.

You're not the only one, I didnt think he showed enough for us to be too disappointed with his trading. He never took the game on and in terms of development, Brown, Riewoldt and Roughhead showed something early on in their careers. IMO Henderson hasn't shown us much during his time with the Lions to warrant such standing.

He didnt love the Lions as far as staying here and biding his time knowing he had the 3 star forwards ahead of him. He didnt want to wait so he left. Good luck to him but I wouldnt go as far as regretting his trade.

Will be a great player, but didn't fit in with the plans of our current coach. There is no point keeping a player around when he is NOT going to get games. He belongs in the forward line.

Lets also remember that it was Hendo himself that jumped at the chance to go back home. He wasn't shipped off against his will. If your talking about doing the right thing by the player, then he is much better off at the blues for his career. I wish him all the best except when he comes up against the lions

A lot of pressure on the poor bloke now at Carlton. Every one expected them to get him some help with pick 12 yet Carlton once again can't seem to break their midfielder addiction.

If you go back and watch his games, focussing on him, you'll see that with the limited opportunities he actually did better than most 1st and second year KPP's.

Not sure what you recall Roughead showing in his first couple of years, but I for one have very clear memories of laughing to my Hawks mates at what a spud he was. Skinny, lacked confidence and couldn't get into the play.

Brown did very little in his first year for the first 7-8 games.

Riewoldt wasn't as good as Brown:

but lets say that stats lie and you are right. Henderson isn't quite as impressive as Riewoldt or Brown in his first two years........well, he isn't that far behind from arguably far less opportunity, and I could go into a much more extensive list of KPP's that he is much more impressive than after two years in the system.......forward and back.

So we get to the heart of your issue with him.
Fair enough. Love hurts. I'm sure I'll hurt a little after the first bag that Fev kicks for you, and the first game he wins off his own boot......but I'll stop short of re-writing his abilities to make myself feel better about the trade.
