Last BIG Geelong Controversy?

When was the last time we had one. Admittedly sometimes I am out of the country so shit can pass me by, but I cant remember a more stable time at the club, or a more stable club in the league the last few years. In fact since the "Stevie J Lockup incident" - that we handled so well - and got Balmey to the club we havent really had anything outside selections to talk about.

No drunken escapades.
No umpire bashing.
No tiff with AFL head office.
No crapping on other clubs.
No hitting players like dirty *****.
No players having a whinge.

It is all rather boring but I guess I should tip my hat to the club. Still wouldnt mind Scarlo smack Caro this week and big Ottens get caught rucking some girl in the toilets at a nightclub.

SJ speeding was indeed last year and DJ was the eve of the 2007 GF if I recall.

Chappy got a drink thrown on him for no reason whatsoever in early 2008 didn't he? Hit the guy too or something..can't remember exactly.

There was also Travis Varcoe's myspace or personal website that had to be edited becuase the club didn't really take to his comments about a certain race.

Sidebottom's bus incident? Or maybe Gary Sr's withdrawal from the side in the latter part of 1986 due to his sabbatical at the time that saw him convert to Christianity. Or even his retirement and then return in 1991.

Apart from a few off-field indiscretions, there thankfully hasn't been anything too bad. Andrew Wills was a wierd one though, as he allegedly was accused of 'withdrawing' some money from his grandmother's bank account while working with a bank in the early 90's. He recieved a minor infraction from the court, but not long after left the Cats only to join Freo in 1995.

I did like Mackie's 'Wanna shot at the title' call, and given that i haven't heard anything to suggest it has changed hands, i can only assume he still holds it!

I saw his myspace page, there was nothing to it. It was the sort of stuff like "Black friends stick together when you go to jail, white friends will leave you". Basically harmless garbage nicked off US websites. Funny thing was when I went to find his myspace page again, it was gone...

The Chappie incident was a nothing, no charges because it was self defence. The DJ incident was a bit more serious, and would have been huge if we had lost the GF, but all water under the bridge in the washup really. Stevie was done for speeding twice, once in 2007 and once in 2008. Otto was done for drink driving, in 2006 (won mark of the year - use of a Toyota for a year - but couldn't drive it). The media guy kicking the photographers off the oval in 2007 during training. Really all rubbish gossipy type things.

I guess the biggest thing was just the 2006 season!!!

Not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure it was his. Pretty harmless though.

Nathan Ablett quitting was a shocker for us.

That was the wednesday or thursday night before the 2007 grand final.Steve Johnson taking Byrnes for a terror drive happened a few months after that.

What about Scarlett clocking his dodgy ex-business partner ? When was that ?

How about when our captain and coach left in the same season? '99 off memory, Leigh Colbert to the roos to chase success and Gary Ayres to adelaide.

Ayres no problem leave but Colbert really made my blood boil, although in hindsight i think we did well in the draft pics we got for him, someone will remember who we got in return in my old age alzheimers is starting to kick in..

We got Chappy by trading Mansfield to Carlton.For Colbert doing a runner we got Mooney plus I think Spriggs and Enright in the draft.

The Colbert debacle broke my heart. And i had to rip the no.2 off my jumper. (have since re-replaced it with same no. for Tommy H ). But yeah, got over it fiiiine. Fair enough if he wanted to play with that povo team, lol.

i remember we got james kelly and hank the tank playfair in the draft from the clint bizzel trade
