Up until this year I have been a big Kenny McGregor fan but I think generally he has had a poor year. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is carrying an injury, in which case he should be rested for at least game. Not since M Stevens, or Massies bad old days, have I seen a player go to ground as much as Kenny does. A few times last night, he went to ground when he wasn't even in the contest.

Kenny's lack of concistency/ lack of aggression really worries me leading into finals.

I 100% agree. His kicking has let him down on too many situations and he must be the slowest at making a decision on what to do with the ball when he is got it. If he is going to play he has to stay down in the forward line otherwise his low decision making in the back line will allow other teams to flood even more than they already do.

Bock is an option, but not sure Pierre is ready for a comeback yet.

As much as I hate to admit it (I am a HUGE Kenny fan), but I think you are right. There were so many spilled marks last night that he normally would have swallowed whole and his loss of footing is a real concern. Is he not wearing the right boots? Does he have an equilibrium problem? While you are right though, there are no real alternatives to Kenny... so he will have to stay and fight to get it right.

Definately he looks slow. Slow at decision making, slow around the ground etc. I don't know what has happened to him this year but it really is fustrating to watch him going around on the field. He most likely is carrying an injury.

My thoughts are WELL KNOWN......these things always surface in the fullness of time

There was a guy in a group at Goalkickers who was giving it to Kenny for the duration. "F***ing useless" this, "f***ing p#ssweak" that.

Almost caused a fight.

Fair to say opinions on the McGrug™ are well and truly and polarised.

They certainly are DT.

IMO the Kenny critics do NOT understand the meaning of structure. He is performing the role that Neil Craig wants him to, which is the same role Robran did in our premiership years.

Robran used to cop the same ill-informed crap back in those days.

Take Kenny out of our forward line and we would be buggered IMO.

Thank god the coaching panel aren't going to listen to the pleas of the anti-Kenny cheer-leader WW and any of his followers.

Why? Because they would like to win a premiership.

Yep. Same story with Shirlos in the midfield.

Will never win an AA guernsey and won't be considered glamourous enough to sign a deal with a kids' footy mag, but they're invaluable parts of the machinery without whom we'd be worse off.

Kenny does look to be out of form and/or low on confidence (or injured?) at the moment, but we need him there to both provide a target and take some heat of Trent.

If he can raise his game back to the level he reached in last year's finals series that would be a pleasant bonus.

Good post :thumbsu:

Kenny has been somewhat out of sorts this year at times. He's not very fast, hence the nickname 'forest' someone sitting near me gave him :D , but he is generally a strong mark and can usually slot a goal through from 40 out.

And your idea of structure is anyone over 190cm....FFS don't treat us as idiots

How about actually listening to the arguments and put up a reasonable alternative POV.

So far all you do is fence sit and agree with the mass opinion.....as soon as public opinion goes against Kenny you'll be the first on the bandwagon

Asked last week for Shirleys supporters to come out an offer something to us who believe he has limitations......not one word from you

Asked you to list players who are likely to make way for the players who WILL come into our team...players like Knights, Porplyzia, Douglas, Phieffer....
What did I get - Not one opinion from yourself.......you just fence sit Macca and then criticize those who may have an opinion that differs from the majority but who still at least back their arguments up with some rationale.

All you offer is footy jargon which I have doubts you even understand.

WW, I find your whole post personally insulting.

I've played a fair bit of football, and I'd be very surprised if it wasn't at a level much higher than you. I do understand what I'm talking about.

I don't treat you as an idiot. I don't have to while you keep attacking players that form an integral part of this side that's trying to win a premiership for us suopporters.

Neither do I have to put up an alternative if I think you're talking tripe. Neither do I sit on the fence and play follow the leader. I'm my own person, I love football, and I have my own clear opinion on matters, whether that be in football or any other walk in life.

I declined to answer who will make way for players to come into our side in the future because I really don't know. Form, injury and opportunity will dictate that. As I said at the time, footy clubs change year by year as they evolve - players come and go. That's the very nature of footy clubs.

So well done. While I'm critical of your footy judgement, you've taken it to another level.

The personal insults tell us a little bit more about you than they do about me. :thumbsu:

i never have and never will rate mcgregor he is a useless twat, can't kick over 45 metres, shocking disposal skills and terrible decison making and always takes an eternity to dish off the ball when a quick give to a runner is what we need.

i say we start a campaign!!! BRING PAVLICH HOME TO THE CROWS!!!:D

How many easy marks did he drop last night?

I'm not a normal Kenny basher but it was extremely frustrating to watch him last night. I'm in two minds whether I want him rested or not but my only concern is how much it will influence our fwd structure if he is removed from it. He has shown how good he can be at contested marking but he is sooo bloody inconsistent and slow at times.

After reading a few posts, including this one, I wish I never started this thread. Kenny is suffering from a lack of consistency this year but he doesn't deserve some of the tripe in this thread.

It was more of a does Kenny need a rest question than lets kick him while he's down, pardon the pun.

Think the last hilighted sentence says it all ....... your response covers every scenario where you couldn't be proven incorrect by a wrong opinion.

Real living on the edge stuff and a very safe approach to life

You couldn't be further from the truth. :thumbsd:

But you should be used to that.

But we ( his supporters) know he has limitations. We never said he didnt. What we have said and will continue to say is that he is important to the side. Whether that continues or not will depend on the continued development of Van Berlo and/or himself. As noted he wont ever be offered a million dollar contract but neither will he be delisted while many more stay on our list

On McGregor , I figure he is injured . I struggle to work out why one week he can grab anything that comes his way and the next drop them all. Its that inconsistency that will allow his detractors room to shoot him down.

Will McGregor be in the Crows best ever? Of course not, but like Klug and Robran before him he will be remembered as an integral part of this eras team.He will be picked in a Grand Final side if we make it this year.

I have been saying nealy all year that IMO Kenny has a mild form of OP - as he hasn't been able to do things he can normally do, or as frequently. ie. he struggles to kick 45+ m, more esasily outbodied in a marking contest & falling over far more often. I think we have been playing him out of necessity with the injuries to Perrie, Bock & Welsh. Now is the time to rest him. If I'm wrong (which I doubt in this case), he should be dropped to regain form. He is an important part of our structure, but only when he is the Kenny of old.

I have always thought that Perrie and Hentschel at CHF and Kenny at FF would be our best option. Even though he had a bad one this week I really believe he has the marking ability to make a solid FF who can provide a tall option in the goal square (taking the big defenders from Hentschel )

He is carrying something but hopefully come finals time we can get Perrie back to improve the structure

Going off on a tangent, but from 1991-Present I'd have him on the bench as a spare tall.

I agree give him a rest and let Bock come in. Rest him for 2 weeks or so if needed. Let him maybe get away from football and spend time with his family or something. Sometimes if you concentrate on football you get mentally tired (I'm not saying Kenny is but it could be a possibility).

That's a good call. Have him one out at FF and if he doesn't take the mark, provides some crumbing opportunities for Bode, Welsh and Thommo.
