Brothers Crouch

Just noticed the best players on the u/18 match Vic Country v NSW. Best on Ground was Matt Crouch. A STANDOUT performance from Vic Country's Matt Crouch has spurred his side to a nine-point win over NSW/ACT in the second game of the NAB Under-18 AFL Championships at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday.

I looked up Matt's sporting prowess and seems he is a champ in cricket and football. He won underage Association medals in u/12 (twice), u/14 as well as representing Victoria in State u/17 cricket teams, 2 years in a row.

I guess with that background his undoubted sporting ability will be recognised in this years draft. If Brad had not been selected by the Crows he would have been in the Vic Country u/18 team this year with his brother. Maybe one day they can play together at the Crows.

Pretty sure Matt was born in 95, and is eligible for next years draft:confused:

Re: Brothers Crouch

My understanding is that he's eligible for the mini draft similar to Brad last year?

One would assume it would be hard to pull off again?

Re: Brothers Crouch

I reckon we could get him but should we really be chasing another star mid? I think Dangerfield, Sloane and in a few years, Crouch, will set us upnnicely with plenty of others to back them up.

We need to look for another key defender.

Re: Brothers Crouch

You can NEVER have enough star power in your midfield. That is where premierships are won and lost.

Exactly. A great mid covers so many other holes because they win the ball and get you going. The ball ends up in your forward 50 more often than not and with Tip and Walker we've got the forwards to benefit.

West Coasts midfield won them that flag. Geelongs midfield made up for their lack of a key forward.

We probably would of one a flag in 04/05/06 if we had a dominant key forward instead of Perrie, Mcgregor and Welsh.

I agree, I'm not trying to dismiss the benefit of a key forward. But whilst our midfield was great it wasn't as good as West Coasts.

I've been impressed with Brad Crouch. I think the AFC would say it has been a success. How's this situation unfolding because I would presume Adelaide are right into this kid and will be maneuvering for a first round pick to get him. Clearly, finding the pick is the situation.

Highly unlikely, he will go in the first 5 or 6 picks so its hard to see him getting to Adelaide unless a gun player is traded which won't happen.
