Lets Get Excited

Its been 10 years since out last finals appearance and over that period we have spent nearly every year talking down our chances of having success. Its like we seem to be afraid of anything that talks up our chances, even the article in todays paper has posters asking why we're pumping up our tyres.

The question I have to ask is what are we so afraid of?

So what if we get excited about our chances and it blows up in our faces. Its got to be better than expecting us to fail all the time. I for one am quite excited about our list heading into next year, sure it might not be capable of winning the flag, but it should be right in the mix for the top 8 and that is the first step we need to overcome.

The reason I say we should get excited as supporters is in the last few years I have seen Hawthorn and Carlton fans get excited about their clubs fortunes before they even made finals and its almost like that expectation of success drove the club on.

Now I fully expect that some posters will jump in here and call me a fool for posting this and that I've no doubt set myself up for failure, but as I said above so what if we don't succeed its not going to stop me from jumping on board again in 2013 anyway.

wouldnt suprise me at all to see us win 14 or more games in 2012...JR8 and Vickers need to stand up and a couple of other things go our way but i reckon our potency has gone up a notch and a rapidly improving depth will be the tonic

its hard not to be optimistic with all these herald sun articles coming out

there has been a few upgrades this offseason... most notably in the ruck division where we will be able to compete for the first time in years.

Cant wait to see what Morris and Ellis are made of. For us to improve they need to have a greater impact than say Farmer and Nason did... which shouldnt be too hard!

Bit of depth in the team now... try and make a best 22 without saying someone is a bit stiff to miss out. Only going to improve greater when we get rid of the last of the deadweight over the next 2 years

All the boys have the drive to win a flag. I think 2012 will be a much improved year for the club onfield. We are now up grading our list and hopeing players have a stand out year as we now have a fair bit of talent already there.

I am hopeful and I think at the very least we now have at least some decent depth. Morris and Ellis will walk into our best 22 and that bottom 5 will improve dramatically. Also the top 5-8 will improve because they are all 19-22.

When it comes to the draft you're all for taking a gamble and saying what have we got to lose by taking a chance, but when it comes to talking up the clubs chances of making finals, you seem less inclined to show the same what have we got to lose attitude.
