Since Bacon8 is too lazy to do it, I've looked into how our medal tally stacks up vs the same time 4 years ago. I don't know if it's right according to the day, but I've done this based on what events we have won medals in this time vs the same events last time, and vice versa.

At the moment we are:
+4 gold medals
-5 silver medals
+3 bronze medals

Just saw Bogut's post-game interview.

Dear God, can this Channel 7 'talent' be any more brainless when interviewing athletes? Do they even listen?

Blonde moron with a microphone: "What a great match, I'll bet you're pleased with getting so close."
Bogut: "Not really. We lost and we've got a lot to work on."
Blonde moron with a microphone: "Everyone back home is so proud of you - are you proud of the team?"
Bogut: "Well, like I said ... "

Idiots.
Did you catch when she asked Kyrie Irving (for the millionth time) why he's not playing for Australia?

ATTENTION AUSSIE JOURNOS: yes, he was born in Melbourne (from American parents) but he moved back to the U.S. as a little kid. 2 years old! He doesn't even remember living in Australia. Get the f*** over it.

At this point, if I was Kyrie, I'd stop being nice and start telling them to take a hike.

Quietly enjoying all the port fans getting salty because "crows fans are trying to claim Chalmers".

They hate that he played for us. :)

50 games, far more than he ever played for them too ;)

Tad unlucky not to have been taken on the 97 Finals Series ride and gone down as an all time great really

Just saw that the Australian women's hockey team is playing at the moment and a question popped into my mind. Does anyone know if there are left-handed hockey sticks?
no. You cannot play with a left handed stick as you will tackle from the wrong side and get yourself killed.

A lot of the best players are left-handers though

Sadly he is a mad Port fan so I presume he will only ever end up at Port as a cat B. To be honest, now he has won I can't see it ever happening. He will reach his physical peak in 4 years and be flying. Good luck to the great man because regardless of his footy allegiance he will be known as one of the greats of the swimming. To come from SA and win a gold medal on the world stage in that event is an insane achievement. It is, aside from the 100m sprint in athletics the most competitive olympic event in the world to conquer. It is like winning the genetic lotto to win that event.

Very much tongue in cheek. Brett played for PAMFC, PAFC, AFC and spent some time at Collingwood. Hell, Marble Range have as much claim to him as anyone. It's a particularly silly pissing contest.

Let's just all enjoy it for what it was, a bloody remarkable performance.

Yeah, I saw that. Irving's obviously developed a standard answer of "winning for both countries" but FMD, if I had to answer that question every single time I snot someone.

When he was interviewed after winning gold he essentially said that swimming is his sport now.

Also got done for draft tampering - that's how we got him and not Collingwood in the first place.

I've seen one or two guys try to play left handed with a regular stick, making them essentially play off their backstick all the time. F**king odd to watch.

I read that Kyle's been doing some work at Alberton, and is a Port Power ambassador. :( ;)

That's about as close to winning as they'll get this year.

From a young age and ss an Australian I have always thought as the pinnacle of any sport is to play for the national team if applicable. The Australian mentality. The reality is Kyrie is not Australian in his mindset and that if it was the reverse and someone moved over here from the states at 2 years of age and became a great player would the expectation be he plays for the boomers? Of course, because he would feel like an Australian every step of the way. I have no doubt that if Kyrie group up here he would be a boomer in a heart beat. The media needs to stop this sort of thing. Just because someone was born in Australia before going to another country doesn't make them Australian and they should play for Australia. It's not like the Boomers even gave a shit about his talent and it was the USA national junior teams that developed him. Move on Australia nothing to see here.

Same, and they're normally the craziest mofo's out there. Don't even bother trying to tackle them, you'll end up eating a stick.

He can't be a Cat B as he does play football and is registered. It's not outside the realm of possibilities for him to nominate for the draft though. He was invited to last year is what I was told, but declined as he was focusing on trying to get to Rio at the time.

He won't be registered by the time his swimming career is over. He would be no different from Kieth.

I have to say that I am stoked with Bogut's post game interview. In other words Australlia, grow the f^&k up and stop being fan boys. Watching the game I thought we played every bit as good as Team USA. The only difference was Anthony and pulling as many 3s from his arse in the first quarter. Team USA struggled to work the ball inside the 3 point line where I think Australia were far better. This game was certainly one we lost more so then Team USA won it. I am willing to bet that they will be stoked they got away with that game. Well done Bogut. Time the media started treating the Boomers with respect.

Lulz at the Cat B talk.

The kid's just won a Gold Medal at 18. He's all set up to be the Golden Boy of swimming for the next 10 years. Slogging around Alberton as a back-up ruckman would be the last thing on his mind.

Loved the fact that this side doesn't go the whole "we're just so lucky to be on the same court as the Dream Team." They're cut they lost, as they should be.

And Paul George is a flog, complaining that the Aussies are dirty.

NBA stars think they're tough warriors. Turns out they're soft as.
