It's starting to look good for us now with the White Sox and Twins to go. We also picked up our sixth four game sweep of the season which is most impressive. Nick.Swisher has been huge this month.

Yeah he was. For a guy who's only hit .177 on the year each one if his hits have been clutch. Good to.see some crowd numbers too even if took us to be here for it to happen. Ubaldo unlucky again to not get a result.

It's looking good for us now. Angels play Rangers and Angels are travelling well so I'm confident postseason is on the agenda. Question is though if we do hold on who do we pitch in the wildcard game ? Masterson pitched a inning today and could be ready but Ubaldo has been our best pitcher (and probably one of the best in the league) since all star break. Personally i think you can't go past Ubaldo at this point in time.

Swisher and Brantley have been huge for us lately.

Been thinking about this too. I agree Ubaldo should pitch the Wild Card game if we get there. I wish the Yankees would have shown something so we might have a chance of hosting it.

Either way it will be so good to (maybe) have something resembling postseason action.
 
Yeah i was cheering the Yankees on today and it hurt lol. It would be nice and would make more sense to have the wildcard spot game as a three game series, i don't like how it's just one game especially if the umpires screw us with a bad call like they did the Braves last year.

Up 3-0 going into the 6th, really need to put this one away I reckon, Rangers down 4-3 top of the 5th, but that is nothing in rangers ballpark.

That's twice this week 2 lower teams have taken Perez to town.

I thought our playoff chances were about to disappear.

Rays and Rangers, two tough teams that have both played World Series in the last 5 years, even though we have the lowest ranked team of the three, we are up against 2 tough teams, lets hope we can clinch this wild card before the final game, I couldn't take listening to another 9th inning like today with so much on the line.
 
12-6 win today brings up 90 in the W column. 2 more wins guarantees at least a wild card appearance. Get through that and I would like the chances against Boston.

Angels win tomorrow we are through but Texas playing clutch ball too. Hope Blue Jays get up over the Rays and we get home ground advantage if we win. I hope by tomorrow we are through so.Ubaldo will be saved for the WC game.

Ninth win in a row means the worst is now a tiebreaker for the WC game. If there's a three way tie we host Tampa on Monday (winner to the WC game) and the loser goes to Arlington on Tuesday to play Texas for the other spot. Basic we have three chances to get to the wild card game. Win tomorrow and we are there AND it is in Cleveland. Ubaldo is starting tomorrow.

Game 163 on Thursday - Danny Salazar to start. I'm of the thought that Masterson should stay in the bullpen, as he is a huge weapon to have there should it go a bit wrong for the starter.

Masterson a good back up for Salazar out of the bull pen on Thursday Morning at 10am, my guess will he will be out of the bull pen IF we win on Thursday during the division series, and then re-assess after that.

Think to make the post season after a 90+ game loss last season is a special effort, they are going to have their work cut out though, Rangers and Rays both tough teams, Wash would have to feel the heat if the Rangers lose either of the next 2 games for them.

Good luck to the boys, lets win the wild card and keep the dream going.
 
Bit disappointed in todays result but all on all it was a great season that has plenty of upside going into next year.

The sore loser in me says that the format the MLB brought in last year to have two wildcard teams play just one game is a complete joke. Either leave it how it was or at least have a best of three series. Atlanta got screwed last year having the better record and us this year.

The issue is the second Wild Card team comes in with nothing to lose, 3 out of the 4 wild card games have gone to the away team (Yes I know a very very small sample size), plus all you need is an exceptional start (ie Cobb) and the team with the better record is looking forward to Spring.

I am not sure what the answer is, I don't mind the wild card game, they need to make it harder than what the Cardinals had in 2011, I have said rather than the second wild card, they should bring in the simple rule the Wild Card team cannot have home field advantage in the World Series unless they are playing the other leagues wild card, it might devalue the All Star game but at the end of the day its about the world series.

The other option is to have a 3 game series, but to do that and also give the Wild Card team enough break while at the same time the division series winner not too long of a break is this year for example:

Tuesday 1pm Reds @ Pirates
Tuesday 5pm Rays @ Indians
Tuesday 8pm Reds @ Pirates
Wednesday 1pm Rays @ Indians (Move to 4pm if Sweep in NL)
Wednesday 5pm Reds @ Pirates (If Required)
Wednesday 8pm Rays @ Indians (If Required)

Issue is tiebreaker games if required.
 
No news on the chief, so I would be guessing that he has at least 1 more year in the sun.

What do we think of our starting rotation for 2014? If we lose Jiminez we could be putting a lot of reliance on Salizar and Bower, but hopefully starts to take shape in the next few weeks.
 
Good to see they're putting such an effort into changing the branding (finally). Even if he isn't officially retired, he's certainly getting pushed far into the outer. Might be looking to see if there are any freak-outs from their fan blocs regarding the erasure. Wonder if dropping a home wild card game will help push getting rid of the mascot as a way to finally beat the Curse of Chief Wahoo...
