Interesting that he only got the one year - could it be that his manager wanted him to cement his spot next year to get a better long-term deal thereafter?

Probably best for everyone involved if it's a 1 year deal. He only got games once they scrapped the bottom of the barrel injury wise. He played pretty well, but he still has to show he can work being the #3 guy with Walker and Jenkins taking up space up forward if he wants to have a long term AFL career at the Crows.

More likely that's all he was offered. By his own admission he was headed for the scrapheap if he didn't pull his finger out. Those last 5 games got him a 1 year contract. He was never going to be offered anything longer than that.

1 year is smart from both parties. he'll get his chance early next year while tex is still getting right. another pre season, a bit more strength and confidence in the body, a bit more endurance, an improved team in front of him and he could have a break out 10 games before getting banished to the sanfl while leading the coleman.

Full marks for optimism, no matter how unlikely the scenario.

The AFC were not allowed to offer him more than a one year contract after the almighty Vader pronounced that he was GONE, Gone, Gone....

That's one Vader (and counting)

Let me know if you want a stickied thread.

You'd argue its 2 btw. Petrenko has played more than 50 games. (though to be fair his general theme here has probably proven more true than false so far)

I don't expect that the AFC will delist / trade 13-15 players but I could be wrong.

Although I question Vader's obsession to be the first to write off every low draft pick or upgraded rookie (is it time to add the RAT and Siggins to the list), I would like to see a reasonable clean out this year. I have no problem with giving an experienced player (e.g. Porps, Stiffy in 2013) an extra year, we don't have to play them at the expense of our developing KIDS.

I believe that Vader should get an extra strike if we do the unthinkable and leave Tambling on the list.

Vader never said he was gone gone gone.

he always said that without game time he was likely to go, and then once game time was forthcoming, changed that stance to likely retain (but is lucky and not really show a whole heap)

I can't really see where Vader has erred in his position on LJ.
