We shouldn't let a minor detail like that get in our way - in fact surely it would be a positive advantage. Think of the home grown advantage and the potential of sponsorship from manufacturers of night-vision goggles. No, because we don't have any lights.
And it looks like we wont have any for a while

I do not recall that.Wasnt there some talk last year about bringing in some Hire lights and having a NAB night time game ? Or was that what i was just thinking ?

but correct me if im wrong, would it not be mentally COLD at night?!

I remember it was on the table to get the light but the board couldnt do a deal with the COGG, I think it get's very messy somtimes between COGG and GFC, Nothing get's done in a hurry. and we just dont have the room for light towersDidn't we get offered the chance to buy VFL Parks light towers but it was turned down because we don't really have the room on certain parts of the ground and the fact that residential areas surround SS and would be effected by the lights.
I don't think so, for the simple reason that who would want to drive down to Geelong at night? It would be fine for Geelong based people and even the surrounding area, but it's already a push for Melbourne based fans such as myself.
For interstate teams, it would be terrible, having to fly into Avalon and drive down in the day, then drive back at night.
Sure you could say stuff the opposition fans, but it's not that simple, and where's the fun in not having anyone to annoy as they leave the ground early when their team is getting smashed?
This post is said in jest i think.. or i hope anyway.I don't think so, for the simple reason that who would want to drive down to Geelong at night? It would be fine for Geelong based people and even the surrounding area, but it's already a push for Melbourne based fans such as myself.

Yeh but business dosnt give a **** about your feelings, people still show up to the game, dosnt mater if its friday night or sat night or sun night the fans still show, so im still lost on your point, is it not the same train and highway that goes to melbourne that comes to geelong ?What I meant is that the AFL and even Geelong are both businesses looking at getting as much money as possible out of their games. It's why Geelong are expanding their ground in the first place. More supporters, more members, more money.
It would be much harder for people to make the trip down the highway, especially a Friday Night. It's the same reason we don't want home games in Melbourne at that timeslot.
In the end, there's a marketing reason for it. Doesn't help our local supporters, but it doesn't necessarily hurt them too much either.
There could be nothing more pleasurable than going to Geelong for a Sat pm game. Fri/Sun no way for Melbourne based supporters. Surely we would fill up the capacity easily even without Melb based supporters or opposition people attending. This post is said in jest i think.. or i hope anyway.
Skilled Stadium should have lights, i don't care what anyone says. Look at the gabba, subiaco and AAMI stadium, they all have lights and there doesn't seem to be a problem. Yes, Geelong may be 2 hours from Melbourne and supporters may not be willing to travel to Geelong and back on a friday or saturday night, but i'm from Melbourne, and i'd have no problem leaving at 4:00pm, arriving at Geelong at around 6:00pm and then watching the game at 7:10 or 7:40. The match would be finished near 10:30 and i'd be back at home by 12:30, the latest. I just love the idea of having at night game at Skilled, it's a stadium that needs lights, even if they don't play games there, it should have lights. There extending the stadium to make it better, why can't they put up 4 light poles aswell ??
If it's hard for Melbourne based people to get to Geelong at night time, then how do Geelong based people get to Melbourne for Melbourne night games?
In the pictures of the fully redeveloped stadium (when the ablett terrace/brownlow stands get done) there are lights
They're the ones, sorry i forgot to include the Wade standThe only pictures I have seen are the ones that show what it would be like if the ground was fully done for the World Cup
