brown will be a second of third round pick with a 25% discount on top. daicos will be a rookie.

they aren't going to contribute in a meaningful way for 3-4 years.

I don't think Jong has the intensity of Blair to play a pressure role and I don't think Elliott and Fasolo being marking forwards exempts them from chasing and tackling. Watching Jong he always looks half haerted.

I wouldn't describe him as half hearted. He's an athletically gifted player with poor skills and football knowledge. Never really questioned his commitment at all over his career.

I think at worst he'd be a depth player. Has a bit of potential. Reminds me of a young Easton Wood in a fair few ways with his athleticism and lack of football knowledge.

This is a bad idea on multiple levels.

First, what on Earth are we looking at him for? What does he bring that we don't have already? I cannot fathom how bringing him in does any more than reinforce our problem of too many not quite right C-D grade players who can sort of run through the mid/forward lines badly. Second, openly courting an opposition player in this fashion mid-season. yes everyone talks off the record, but this is just so overt it smacks of arrogance. Everyone used to get stuck into Carlton for it's whole "We are Carlton, **** the rest" attitude. So in the wake of a season of multiple shitstorms and where we are beset by constant distractions, where our President consistently agitates in ways that put everyone else offside, of course thats a great time to play the Collingwood Exceptionalism card and openly two finger salute the club whose president is probably the leader amongst the other clubs and who we are going to need to get shit we want. Apparently we have cooled on him already. Baffling we even took the time to show him around. Maybe he approached us rather than the other way around.

I really like him and he'll be a good player at a club that needs a player like him. But after recruiting Treloar Adams Crisp and Greenwood in recent years and developing others like De Goey and Maynard I think we are ok in the "hard man" department.

It makes most sense to me that the manager teed it up and we said yes to keep relations positive. Keeping managers onside these days is an important factor in getting deals done so walking him through didn't bother me. My main hope is that it wasn't too much of a distraction to Jong.

I have to be honest I don't read papers or news sites anymore and get everything I need from on here for footy so I don't know who broke the story. My assumption was that Jay Clark was the man and he does a podcast for the club which is why I didn't even look at it from that angle.

Nothing's secret these days and everyone talks (just look at how Pert's conversation with Robbo snowballed on the eve of the season) so that doesn't bother me. I would have even liked it if Buckley went the next step and talked about how the walkthrough came about, but I get why he didn't.

I get where you're coming from... surname pun and comedy is an open book regardless of race. But this was a racist slogan he has used here... "Two Wongs don't make a White". ... and spun it out for Ling Jong who is about the only asian player we have in the game. It is not racist in itself you are correct; but it is insensitive and tactless and frankly stupid. Not sure how it gets past the editors either.
