Geez, it would be tough to really judge the guy if he is consistently being played out of position or on guys that he shouldn't really be playing on or doesn't technically match up on due to the side's deficiencies.

Tough? He is being judged on the simple basis of not turning up, regularly.

And when he does on those very irregular occasions, trust me, with the best wishes in the world, unfortunately he isn't setting the world on fire.

May be kept as a reserve, but, in reality, doesn't deserve it.

Pretty bloody hard to judge a 185cm, 18 yr old, HB/mid forced to play a play as a key defender. He came in always needing to polish his game and having to play a completely foreign position would certainly not help his development. We didn't give him a fair run at it this year and I believe we owe it to him to do so next year. Give him the season to brush up on his skills and work around the ground and let him play in a position where he has some chance at. Don't set the kid up to fail and then judge him harshly when he does.

Brad's best game (IMO) was at Mt. Gravatt when he played wing. The NT game several weeks ago when Ewing had a day out at FF against him knocked his confidence, I reckon.

60-55 our way at the half. Ground pretty sloppy in parts. Sharing the workload pretty evenly. Bartlett going well. Forward line a bit top heavy in the conditions. Much of Broady's score the result of Lions skill errors.

Had a purple patch for about 10 minutes in the middle of that quarter which netted two goals and set up another. Quiet-ish otherwise, but the forward entries have been, um, indifferent in quantity and quality.

It's been the MO this year. Wouldn't have played at all in seasons previous.

Btw, didn't notice Cal at all in the last quarter. Hope that was the plan and nothing untoward happened.

Voss and most of the senior coaches there to observe. Lots of senior players there also.

Rucks performed a little better- McCulloch spent a bit of time forward. Retzlaff started with 2 in the first but faded a bit.

Buchanan everywhere but subbed [?] off at half. Bartlett coming along nicely- not the full package yet by any means but plenty of promise. Cornelius ok but with limited opportunities.

O'Brien a very impressive game. Bewick started slowly but got better as the game went on. Harvey ok.

Charman told me he'd play next week. Rich had a boot on but told a family member it wasn't a stress fracture suggesting he'll play again this year.
