It's complicated, with body parts found at different times scattered across counties. Here's a really good timeline.

TIMELINE

Developments are ongoing with the page in the link above updated as news is released.

Just another lunatic lawyer trying to get some media time.

I'm not sure why this lawyer is going so hard at the family, he's been at it since the arrest.

My only logic is that It’s one of the most high profile cases in modern history in the states and that he is just trying to get free advertising. I think we forgot how capitalist and gross America is living in our bubble here.

Listening to the Unraveled pod last night with information the police found over 400 devices through their search which included thumb drives.

The hosts are wondering why he would keep all this evidence lying around?

With a father like that, who knows what she could have witnessed and/or endured. She may have some involvement or she may be deeply troubled.

Perhaps even ask the victims to wear her clothes?

PS. The NYTimes is doing very good coverage Kurve not salacious or dodgy.

I'm not sure if any of you can read the comments for the article but they are always interesting to read.

Geez pretty damning based on the prosecutions comments about what the documents covers.

It's hard to believe how he could raise any kind of defence in the face of all the evidence they appear to have.

Indeed, sounds like even his lawyer struggled to spin it. Might also give clues to a few more unsolved murders.

Heuermann left body parts in a place called Manorville, where other bodies were also found and a John Bittrolff convicted for the murder of two.

We wondered in here somewhere, given how many bodies were being found across counties if there was two serial killers operating in the area and if one or both were playing some sick game of oneupmanship.

Heuermann in the least, was dumping on Bittrolff's turf.

The skull of one victim – known only as “Fire Island Jane Doe” – was found on Gilgo Beach in 2011, but her legs were found about 16 miles east on Fire Island in 1996.

Valerie Mack’s head, hands and right foot were found on Gilgo Beach in 2011, but her torso was found 11 years earlier in Manorville, New York, which is about 40 miles east of Gilgo Beach.

Similarly, Jessica Taylor’s skull, hands and one of her forearms were found around the beach along Ocean Parkway in March 2011, but her torso was found in Manorville in 2003.

Heuermann has been charged with the murder of 24yo Valerie Mack previously known as Jane Doe 6, found in Manorville.

OH FFS: Only in America... ( THE WIFE - OR EX OR WHATEVER )

All for the Monetizing Murder doco $millions to the wife !🤮🤮 of an accused Serial Killer.

***************************************************************

Accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann had a new supporter in the courtroom Tuesday — a scraggly black lab mix named Stewie.

Asa Ellerup showed up in a Long Island courtroom Tuesday cozying up with the family dog as her troubled husband made his latest appearance before a Suffolk County judge — with the pup suited up with a harness marked “Service Dog.”

Ellerup initially distanced herself from her architect husband, but in recent months has dutifully been in the courtroom for his appearances and has visited him in jail regularly, officials said.

“I mean, it’s his dog,” defense attorney Michael Brown told reporters. “I don’t know if he saw Stewie but I did mention that his dog was there.”

Absent from the courtroom Tuesday was the couple’s daughter, Victoria, with Ellerup instead bringing Stewie along to keep her company as the two sat at the rear of the room during the proceedings.

Heuermann was sporting a new black suit, blue tie and a new haircut as he faced Suffolk County Judge Timothy Mazzie — repeatedly shaking his head during the brief court appearance.

There is a press conference beng held on Tuesday morning NY time.
It is expected that they will be tieing more murders to the suspect.

According to reddit, they think it'll be (at least) about Valerie Mack:

The district attorney has previously stated that Heuermann, already charged in six killings, remains a suspect in the other decades old unsolved killings along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach, including Valerie Mack of New Jersey, whose parents told Newsday they plan to attend Tuesday’s conference.
Tierney in June named Heuermann as a suspect in Mack’s 2000 killing, when prosecutors unveiled a document they discovered on a device seized from Heuermann’s home that referenced the Mill Road location where Mack’s remains were first discovered by hunters as a potential "dump site."

NYTIMES:

"Investigators on Long Island on Tuesday morning will announce a “significant development” in the investigation of Rex Heuermann, the Massapequa Park architectural consultant accused in the Gilgo Beach serial killings.

The Suffolk County district attorney’s office said on Monday that the announcement would happen after a 9:30 a.m. court hearing for Mr. Heuermann, but did not provide any more details.

Authorities have already charged him in the murders of six women, including one found in Southampton. They have been working intently to secure indictments in the killings of five other people whose remains were found near Gilgo Beach........"

Vile creature

Incredible a hair found on Valerie Mack was matched to Heuermann's daughter when she was only a toddler at the time.

DNA science has come a long way, it's possible now to get a profile from a strand, prior they needed the root.

Documentary coming out, surprised that it's happening before the trial.

I might check in.

It's intrigued me for a long time how Shannan Gilbert seemed to know.

Shannan thinks her client on Long Island is trying to kill her, runs from her driver because she thinks he might be in on it, rings the police, runs and runs and runs until she's running through the scrub in the direction of where the bodies are but she can't get through it and dies.

In the searches for Shannan, three murdered women are found instead, the police go on to find another seven for a total of ten and a serial killer who'd been flying under the radar for decades is stopped.

Heuermann was stopped because of Shannan, somehow she sensed it but misapplied the messaging she was receiving.
