Yeah Wilson is gawn

Would like to see a very big clean out, a la Freo circa 2008/9

We need to act. Simmo needs to make a judgement on the ceilings of our very mediocre list and bite the bullet.

If we want to capitalise on the talent of Le Cras, Hurn, Kennedy, then I'd rather we rolled the dice to try net a couple of gems in the draft by dumping 8-10 players, than hope that the bulk of our current list might somehow improve enough to become the best team in the comp.

I'd be happy if we kept Wilson.

I just said Wilson and McGovern would listen to the other clubs offers

Delist:
Wilson
Brennan
McGinnity
Smith

Retire:
Glass
Cox
Butler
(Waters?)

Trade:

Sinclair

Re-rookie:
Dalziell

As much as it pains me to say it, I totally agree with what Freo have done. The only issue being, is that we haven't really had too many recycled players

Cox & Glass have to go next season. Should give us some room in the salary cap for a GREAT Midfielder.

Top priority should be getting a GREAT midfielder.... not just a ok one e.g. wellingham, we need a GREAT one e.g. Omera, dangerfield or somone simular

It would fix it up but has zero chance of happening.

Glass (Thanks for the years of great service)
Cox (Thanks for the great years)
Brennan
A. Smith
Waters (Injury curse)
Butler
Hill
McGinnity
Priddis (I know I'll get hammered for this one but time for a cleanout)

I will repeat this list here.
I think it is time to move on our list and clean it out. Even if it means some pain in the next year or 2 to have sustained success.

Priddis will be 30 next year, surely that's old enough for him to be asked to step aside for the young brigade to come in. I know there is 6754 pages in the priddis thread discussing it but that shit just goes round in circles so I'm not going back in there.:D

Cox and Glass??? Not sure on these guys. Happy for these guys to work it out with the club.

Delist

Butler
Brennan
McGinnity
Smith
Waters
Any other player that has been on our list for 3-5 years and is not a regular player yet.

Trade bait

Selwood - I would delist but some other club might fall for it.
Shuey - Happy to keep him
Gaff - Happy to keep him
Cripps - Can't play and should be delisted. But is young and someone might want him
Masten - Time to go, trade him
Schofield - Has not improved but do think he has something.
Lycett - Would love to keep him But we need midfielders
Sinclair - Would love to keep him but we need midfielders
Brown - Should of let him go when he wanted to go.

Other clubs won't deal with us because we won't give anything up. Hence why we are going no where. We need to change our attitude towards trading.

To be honest our list is a real mess, the coaching and in particular the development the last 5 years has been nothing but poor.

Retiring

Dean Cox
Darren Glass
Beau Waters (not dependable because of injury, Bennell and Carter are the future as the smaller defenders
Sam Butler (same as Waters, re: Carter and Bennell)

Thanks for the years of service boys. Great that they can all depart as premiership players for the club

Delist

Jacob Brennan (I'd keep Blayne Wilson if it came to a choice between the 2).
Ashley Smith - Happy to lose him for nothing. Put him for a trade and see who is stupid enough.
Josh Hill - Not interested in him anymore. Newman** and Karpany need to be pushed ahead of him.
Patrick McGinnity - Doesn't have trade value. Hard as nails player who I'm a bit torn on. If we were to lose Selwood he becomes a required player on our list.

Delist and Re rookie

Mark Hutchings (Father / Son Alec Waterman will make it harder for him to get a gig). Solid for depth
Patrick McGinnity (if needed to)

Trade Bait / Free Agency

Matt Rosa - Don't get me wrong he is absolutely worth keeping but his available for free agency. I'm sure offers will come.
Shannon Hurn - Under no means should he be released unless the club can't help it. Would much rather have Hurn than Rosa if we can't keep both
Scott Selwood - Love the kid and in the past he has been looked at as next skipper, smacks of leadership potential BUT his career has stagnated badly. See what we can get.
Callum Sinclair - See what we can get. May end up asking for more opportunities elsewhere without the club prompting him
Will Schofield - Unpopular opinion possibly. If he is persisted with as a tall defender he is left open to a trade. If we want another tall defender go hard for FA Frawley.

Free Agency players who would offer something

Carlton: Bryce Gibbs (For the right price only), Michael Jamison (Thinking post Glass)
Collingwood: Tyson Goldsack (Under rated, very flexible), Heritier Lumumba (Wouldn't specifically chase him but would offer something)
Essendon: Heath Hocking (Good replacement if Selwood goes), Jason Winderlich (handy inside 50)
Fremantle: David Mundy (TARGET, smacks of what we need in the middle), Paul Duffield (good distributor, allows Yeo to play midfield)
Melbourne: James Frawley (Thinking post Glass)
Port Adelaide: Tom Logan (not skilled but tough as nails, could offer a reduced contract if no other interest)
Richmond: Shane Edwards (not a real player of need but his a FA, got enough of his type)
Western Bulldogs: Shaun Higgins (same boat as Shane Edwards but more skillful, injury baggage ala Ellis) Tom Williams (Thinking post Glass)

Can understand the frustrations with past high draft pick midfielders like Masten, Shuey and Gaff, also the ball use of Priddis but unfortunately these guys are required players especially Priddis. Sure his disposal by foot isn't great but what he brings to the table is more important than his disposal. Guys like Waterman (if we get him), Sheed and Will Maginness will need a bloke to teach them what winning inside footy is about and i'll be f***ed if we try and get Gaff to teach them.

Brown needs to be kept. Anyone wanting him traded needs to give me a open for trade tall defender who we can find to replace him. If we did put him up for trade he would definately attract offers from Victoria. Would release Schofield first

If anything I would have thought the opposite was true. In recent times we've had a tendency to pay overs for players coming in (Wellingham and Yeo) and received unders for those leaving (Ebert)

Didn't the salary cap rules change allowing you to roll over $500 000 dollars of salary cap not used this year to next years cap ? If it can maybe we put it aside to target a free agent next year ?

I'd put all our backup KP players up for trade and if any of them could net a 2nd round pick I would move them on: Schofield, McGovern, McInnes, Sinclair, Wilson - could probably throw in Tunbridge and Colledge too. I doubt we'd get it but you never know - teams have shown in the past they are willing to overpay for tall players with a bit of experience.

well if we delist 9 and some of those trades you suggest come about it will be a clean out for sure

It's one thing to cut players and another thing to replace them. We need to find a way to generate draft picks. Whether its trading players or letting Rosa go for a 2nd round pick - we need to find a way to add a number of talented young midfielders. Basically we need a new 5 year plan.
