List Mgmt. List changes

Our current issue is a transition to having no need for back ups on the rookie list. So we need to make the choice between cutting some depth players and hoping we get few injuries, or minimal draft picks.

Given we need three picks there are three guys gone. I'd look at more mature guys that aren't playing whilst fit. Big X etc.

Then if we trade in one or two we need to get a couple more. The awesome thing is that we have guys that really deserve to stay on the list that will likely have to be cut if this is the case.

I'll trust the coaches to know who to cut. But my preference is leave guys like Griff and McG on the list. They add value now (McG) or have lots of talent and are young (Griff). Guys like Nahas aren't getting games and playign well and are not young - i.e. they have peaked and been passed by others.

I'd be worried if Richmond's midfield depth is just Arnot, Lonergan and Helbig going into next season. Richmond has a nice group of midfielders in its 22, especially inside midfielders, but outside that it's fairly shallow.

I've mentioned Greenwood before on this board, there's also Ellis but he's injury prone. Horlin-Smith might be an option, he's a really good player and can play inside, just can't seem to crack into Geelong's 22, has been on the list for 3 years yet has only played 10 games. I wonder what Geelong would say if Richmond offered them a 3rd round pick? That would be an easy win for Richmond IMO, and Geelong might agree to it as well.

He's a mile better than Lonergan. I rated dunstan in top couple last year as a 17yo. I thought he was better than Flossy. Another of the top juniors who stand out early and recruiters pick out their flaws more plus lack the motivation to really dominate when they smashed their underage year.
My knock is that he's exactly the same as last year. 0 development

I'd be happy to have a couple of older players stay for depth as a veteran (costing less than 50k of salary cap) and say to them 'you get a 5 month holiday, go, then you'll be expected to play from round 10 onwards with a break two thirds of the way through the season'. Kind of like a part timer

Could have said the same about Vlastuin too. I'd rather we trade for Adams but I'd like us to offer up Griffo to a Saints who are desperate to see if we can get their 2nd rounder. (With us throwing in a 3rd rounder) If we can get that pick take Dunstan.

North are pretty keen on Garlett. I might even reach to take him at the Saints 2nd round pick, if we can get it.

Adams, Garlett, ??? With our own 2nd pick. Do we go another mid to stockpile depth or a KPF to replace Griff. Or even a legit key defender so we can move our forwards back forward.

Ps I'd take him just to shit norf. :p

Agree. Don't pull the trigger on Griff yet
Ricky P > Batch
Nahas = na na
I still want to see Derickx play one more senoir game as it seems he has improved

I guess the only fringe players who will be dropped are people who RFC have identified a gettable upgrade on.

Just came over to see what you guys would want for Griffiths? Apparently according to someone on the Saints board we are into him. Unlikely you get our second rounder because we are trying to get as many early picks as we can according to Chris Phelcan.

We'd want something decent for him. Though I wasn't saying a straight out 2nd rounder. A decent pick upgrade we'd take I'd imagine.

Do you think he could actually develop into a good KPD given more game time in the AFL playing that position? I liked the look of him last year when i seen a few of his games.

Lacks confidence. He did look good last year. Shut down Roughead and I think Kosi? the next week. I just posted on your board that I think he needs to be put in 1 position and played there rather than swung from one end to the other.

Milne playing for an opposition club as a defender could have shutdown Kosi these last few years.:p (But yeah did a good job on Kosi). Yep noticed the posts, thanks for that, i've been keen on Saints looking at him for a while.

Very true. His game on Roughy though was very good. From memory, Roughy got a cheapie late and Griff was possibly off the ground injured.

If we have to trade Griffiths (which I am against, but he's been killed development wise) then I would want a second round pick for him from the Saints. End of.

They want him, they are desperate for a defender, he was a Pick 19 who has had three years of development and about to come good.

Straight up, Ben Griffiths to St.Kilda for 2nd Round Pick.

200cm agile player who can kick it 65 metres. Massive upside.
I would prefer to keep him, but he wanted out for more game time, I wouldn't blame him.

i'd keep him one more year, give him a position for next year and keep him there come what may so he can learn to play the role. having our own VFL side should help with this as we won't be short on fwd/def players so they can all stick to the same role for the year

Could we do an exchange of picks with the dogs for their second rounder?
