Little point promoting him before the season. It would mean instead of having your last pick in the senior draft you now have an extra pick in the rookie draft - about 100 spots lower.
I guess the call about Menegola had to come. Athlete playing footy.

Yeah, that's a fair call. I just figured on the back of his season he was a good chance to be a permanent addition to the senior list. Not a big deal really as they can elevate him in season and give him game time if they feel he's earned it. And like you say we get an extra pick in the draft.

You have to feel sorry for Michael Wood. Despite the fact he can always claim he was on an AFL list, one year really isn't enough. I trust the club, you can't keep everyone, but he seemed to offer more than someone like Menegola was ever going to.

Menegola obviously. Surprised on Wood though. Had a couple of excellent WAFL games, although he wasn't consistent at all he certainly had talent. I'm not sure one year is enough, especially at the utter shambles that is Peel.

It is quite harsh. Menegola was given four years on an AFL list and Wood one.
Not happy about Wood going, thought he had serious promise.

Menegola was always going to have poor disposal because it wasn't just rushed and anxious kicking (like Lachie Neale) but poor decision making and a lack of awareness; things you do or don't have. He just had a ludicrous tank.

Yeah, look i'm sure the people at the club probably have a better idea than us about the whole situation.
It just seems weird to me when you have a guy who's on a 2 goal a game average as a rake-thin 19 year old at Subi league, he comes to us and bounces between Peel ressies and league, who managed an amazing 6 wins combined for the year, and is now cut despite a couple of 4+ goal games... A Peel player kicked 4 goals or more in a match literally 4 times this year. Some Peel bloke, Taberner, Wood and Wood. But i'm probably talking shit, i've seen him live like once, twice?

Wood got some good reports towards the end of the year given his stick insect like frame he could consider himself pretty unlucky. He could be another Schloithe next year by having a much more consistent season and getting picked up by another club (I assuming Schloithe will he seems likely to be).
Do you reckon we will re-rookie young Wood to give him time?

Watched him a couple of times down at Peel and remarked to my mate that if he could start finding more of the ball he'd be an excellent player. Plenty of beautiful one-touch moments - seems like he'd have some pretty big hands, bit of the Fyfes about him when he grabs it off the deck.

I can't wait for the Preseason training to start so he can mesmerize us all over again with his skills .

Considering there would be literally zero difference in terms of list management next year between leaving him on the rookie list and re-rookie-ing him, no, I can't see that happening.
My bad, I thought Wood was on the senior list. I can't see to load the club page, so haven't read the article.
