I make it 33 + 5 + Akuei.

5 Rookies being - Cottrell, LOB, Boyd, Mirkov, S Durds.

Have you got something that suggests one of these has been elevated to the senior list? (Genuine question - I just haven't seen anything that suggests one of these has been promoted)

Seriously nearly the worst trade suggestion that I have ever heard.

You realise that Josh Daicos is the not so good one?
Henry is a fringe player , might end up being o.k. but no certainty. Whispered to be going to Geelong and Collingwood not overly fussed.

So two players you might get a second rounder for a Coleman medallist with plenty of time left in the game.

Personally I wouldn't trade Harry for north's pick 1. For Josh daicos and Oliver Henry not in a million years.

I feel a bit dirty just thinking about it.

Josh may not be as good as his younger brother, but he's a very good footballer in his own right. Made the AA squad this year.

Other than that I agree with you, as I said above it's a ridiculous trade that neither club would entertain.

Not sure above that. Even with the Daicos family history I think Macrae would drop Josh and Ollie at Ikon park himself if that was the trade.

Good deal for the Pies. Terrible for Carlton.

Agree with a lot you post on here mate but not this. 33 by next year and having constant calf issues this year is a concern at that age. He’s had great training leadership and sets a good example for young blokes but we have Cripps and Walsh and others who show enough of that.
See if he wants to have a coaching role and a vfl contract but waste of a list spot with where we are now.

I don't see a rookie spot as a waste for a leader such as Ed. Either way, the list is in a good place

The obsession with people on here putting Harry McKay in trade hypotheticals is truly mind boggling.

IMO Collingwood would do it in a heartbeat. Picking up a key forward like Harry for Daicos (and Henry who isn’t even in the best 22) makes them runaway premiership favourite for the next 2 seasons.

SOS and Dodo should never be mentioned in the same sentence. The 2 ways of managing lists are just so different.

SOS was exactly what we needed when he came in. Super-realistic / honest about how we were operating and stripped it all back to do it properly. Dodo - complete opposite - keeps trying to quick-fix his way to a premiership team.

SOS knew in order to build a list properly you have to open up as much free space in the cap as possible and take as many high draft picks as possible knowing that not all of them will work out (people forget even Hawthorn missed on many 1st rounders in the Buddy/Roughy/etc. era).

For example: SOS turned Henderson, Bell and pick 20-odd into Curnow and McKay through clever list management decisions. He just operates on a different level to someone like Dodo who just focuses on 1 deal at a time and trying to screw the other side as hard as possible.

100% agree.

When SOS arrived we had a maxed out salary cap AND a wooden spoon in the same season.

Should be impossible but Carlton still managed it.

A lot of overpaid players on the list who thought they were better than they were.

SOS and his “reality stick” were badly needed.

Only speaking for myself here but I've never doubted Marchbank's ability when fit and can't say the same for Cuningham, still a tease even when fit.

Don’t think he’s ever gonna be in the elite category for small forwards but it’s always fun having the magical small forward

Betts and Garlett were just so enjoyable.

Is a consistent 30 goal a season player reasonable?

Motlop this season had some really good moments in matches, he also went missing for large parts of matches. I did see a kid that looked like he wasn’t quite ready for AFL trying his best and showing some really good glimpses of a quality player.

Motlop who I thought wasn’t quite ready, who needs to build up AFL quality fitness, was able to get a goal a game, it’s a good platform to build upon.

Owies we have to upgrade.
No real need to upgrade LOB though.

He's got goal sense Motlop, sets him apart from the other small forwards on our list. Need more of it.
