Brayden Fiorini anyone?

Has one year left on his contract, but apparently gettable (as he has been for years).

Knows how to find the pill, uses it well. Clear upgrade on our existing wings...

Everyone is treating Collingwood like this year was an incredible rebuild/rebound and is a modern-day baby bombers*. It wasn't.

They are one of the oldest, most experienced sides out there every week.

Last year was the aberration. This year is back to normal.

They have introduced a nice group of youngsters in the last couple of years. They have had a great year, with a fresh coach, a clear gameplan, player buy-in, and a never give up attitude; not trying to downplay any of that.

But they still have the core of a team that has made it to the 2nd week of the finals 3/4 years prior to 2022.

PS - my post not aimed specifically at you I AM CARLTON, just raising the point in general.

Kind of hoping that this year is a “dead cats bounce”.

;):p

Yeh they certainly haven’t had to have a rebuild but I am still yet to meet anyone who picked them to make finals.

I think they are a great example of teams not having to be perfect to be successful

It is easier to bounce back up the ladder when you get a free hit an AA calibre draftee

It's really 2 free hit guns with the 2 Daicos kids. If Peter had played for us, the ladder positions are probably reversed right now. Random luck.

The competition is so even, that any little extra certainly helps. Sydney up there because of Heeney and Mills from the academy. Geelong have that unique lifestyle attraction that has lured Dangerfield, Cameron etc. Brisbane will effectively get the number 1 pick this year despite finishing top 4.

Agree - I'm tired of the line 'It's taken Carlton 7 years to rebuild and we did it in one year'

Last year was the aberration partly due to a tired coach on his way out and a playing group unsettled with salary cap issues.

It also helps when you get two Daicos's delivered to your door.

Having said that, I do really like the football they are playing - so fast and dynamic. I think they can give it a shake against the Swans.

I have long held the view TDK could be a quality defender and absolutely think he should do some sessions in defence during the pre season. If nothing else it mixes up the match ups during the sessions to add layers.

I still believe his future lies in the ruck. His development has been slow and, in my opinion, incomplete. He needs a dedicated tapping coach, a mentor who can vary his technique and the range of his hit outs. He is somewhat one dimensional and also needs a bit more aggression in his contests more often. He has the scope to be the closest thing to NicNat in the competition. His athleticism should make him a force at each and every ball up. His boundary work is still a work in process as he doesn’t have the core strength of many of his opponents. Do we build his strength at the possible detriment of his leap, or do we look at using him at bounces and ball ups, leaving Pitto to use his strengths at boundary contests?

We have players with varied strengths and could adopt a game plan maximising those aspects or develop Tom to be a more “rounded” ruckman. He could be valuable deployed tactically at either end of the ground if we choose.

100% we need to build his core, legs and arse.

If he loses to small amount of bounce, so be it.

He needs to be able to contribute in all facets of rucking.

His body work and tap work are atrocious. He needs to be able to compete more aggressively in the ruck and around the ground.

He either jumps on someone's shoulders or just gets pushed away.

I doubt he will lose that much bounce anyway but we saw him in a lot of games this year being much more athletic than his opponent but still got absolutely smashed most weeks. Just being able to jump the highest means very little.

Collingwood are an example that clubs can bounce back quickly, and don't need to spend a decade in the doldrums like we have.

add in moore as another FS, quanyor as an NGA

No idea why you would ever play TDK as a defender

Let him continue to learn his craft as a ruckman and forward
Would be good for him to be able to sit in the hole and take a defensive mark in a close game when required. He's already done it. A bit more time down there might help with positioning.

Trade for Acres and just hit the draft, with at least 3 (hoping for at least 4) live picks.

Doesn't look like there is any decent FA's (delisted or otherwise) for us to snag this time around.

Wonder if we can move up in the draft with the Jones compo pick and the 4th rounder we got from Port last year.

Sean Darcy would cost us too much draft capital to trade for. It's a no from me.

They 150 odd games of finals experience in their team last week.

How many would we have? 10-15?

Our guys simply haven't been in those pressure situations in big games before. Very rare for anyone to get it right on the first go.

Look, always keep the door open for deals.

But Acres and 3 draftees makes sense.

Brisbane is going to need a huge war chest for the 2 father sons in the top 20 ish range. Guessing that they will be trading out of next year. Might be an opportunity there

Was decent. I don't think he's ready to be a number one Ruckman yet. The problem IMO have is I don't think we can carry him in the 22 with Pitt at the moment, and don't think he fits with Charlie and Harry in the F50 as the third tall.

I would add to this that I also don't think we can keep playing JSOS as our second ruck. Don't see how this is helping his footy at all, I'd much prefer to see him allowed to develop his third tall role. I can't see how involvement in the argy bargy of the ruck helps this.

If we have a full complement of tall backs available I'd much prefer Young play that second ruck role.

I really don't want NT to get a team.

What a basket case that would be.

Can't get anyone to live on the GC, let alone the battlegrounds of western Sydney.

Tassie, while they deserve a team in theory will be a nightmare for players retention. No young kid with money will choose to live there. They will end up overpaying for a whole bunch of b graders after their rookie contracts are up. IMO, the only way tassie worked was clarkson going as coach or forcing north down there or both.

Gws is just a waste of space, time and money. the sun's will be too soon unless they have a huge couple of years.

A team in NT would be an absolute train wreck.

Canberra would make more sense than NT.

I think a tassie team will be fine.

Collingwood’s won 2 flags in the last 60 years

If you want to nit pick you could say 2 pies flags in AFL era, and we’ve had one.

Pies have been in prelims or better 10 times from 2002 onwards, us zero times. Also fun fact only 3 clubs have not competed in a prelim in that period: Carlton, Essendon and Gold Coast.

You can make fun of them for losing GFs etc but I’d much rather be up there in contention than doing what we have been doing for the last 20 years.

We desperately need an AFL ready Ruck support for Pitto, thereby giving us flexibility and time to explore develop TDK correctly he’s definitely talented. Tom , Jacob, Harry and Charlie all firing makes for a formidable skilled KPP division For the 5 years.
We don’t need any of them playing support Ruck unless absolutely necessary.
