Marshall has way higher profile than Peatling, he's a highly proven commodity. He's been in the top echelon of rucks for an extended period. Peatling was a virtual unknown until the latter part of last year.

We would never have got Rankine Dawson or Peatling with that attitude

It's not attitude it's the reality.
None of those 3 had the high profile that Rowan Marshall has at the time they came to us, not even Rankine who was more potential than performance. Top end finishes in the Saints B & F, All Australian squad etc etc all in an underperforming team.

Rankine and Dawson both SA boys that barracked for the Crows growing up, Peatling probably doesn't get to us other than the Cumming factor re the partners being best buds.

Rucks are a bit like wicketkeepers , whenever it’s clear there’s an open 1st ruck opportunity available at decent money candidates will show up

Until we have another option locked away unfortunately ROB is it. It seems the 2 parties are a fair way apart re a new contract at this point if the media is to be believed. Maybe they have someone locked away, maybe not.

What will it solve for them ? They’ll still have the same issues just less salary cap to fix them

I don't have an issue with trying to attract an A grade player to their club.
Going after a ruck with that offer is what's silly.

Make that offer to someone like Callaghan, Butters, Brayshaw etc

There's clearly something to this. He's shown us there's a real risk if we sign him back up that he goes back to being terrible next year.
