Played U16s State on the Gold Coast

He is a Murray Bridge lad who is a huge GC fan - made Captain of the Sturt U16s this year and as noted will track through the system

The Draft Board guru has him at 3 in the talent ranking at the moment

Is prepared to go anywhere but Tassie did elicit a groan when mentioned
Great knowledge thank you

I think what’s interesting about him is he’s pure wing - no one trying to make him anything he’s not. Well not yet anyway. Keen to see if that stays the same and how high of a pick would be spent on a specialist wing

He is starting to be made to play inside mid a bit - more an extra string - but he isnt that comfortable yet

As you note he believes he is a much better wing but also understands the draft board wants more than just pure wing

Surely we are looking to go all out trade this time around ... drafting top-end doesn't suit our list profile imo. We have a window that needs to be maximised. Ok to shift out our low-picks for on the ground talent.

We land NWM and a better ruck option and we are looking pretty good list-wise in 2026.

Time for some of our developing players to get their shot at filling the gaps left by the retiring oldies (thank you for your service).

Brodie Smith
Tex Walker
Rory Laird
Matt Crouch

Will be a very different team with those 4 watching from the grand stands.

Thanks for that. The two things I thought interesting:

"It is understood Jack Lukosius had a more lucrative deal in front of him from Adelaide before he made the decision to player under his close friend Connor Rozee at Port. Lukosius called it an “incredibly tough decision” after receiving “very impressive pitches” from both clubs. The Crows got one back with GWS free agent Isaac Cumming, after the Power’s strong interest forced an increased offer from their rivals and Taylor Walker pushed hard for his fellow Broken Hill product to join him at West Lakes."

LOL - so we were willing to pay more for Luko but they beat us, and they also somehow beat us by making us pay more for Cumming? What a weird way to perceive those deals.

"It could take Bergman and a pair of first-rounders if they are committed to filling that vacant role with an A-grader in 2026."

Bergman and two firsts for NWM? C'mon, I don't think even Port would pay that.

None of what you LOL'd is outlandish in any way. I'd be pretty confident that one of the factors in us not getting Luko was that we weren't prepared to pony up a pick that would get the deal done easily. Ports pick would have been valued around 16, there was no way we were going to end up with anything near that and we'd be idiots to split our first into 2 x average first rounders.

Honestly, thank god he chose Port.

What would we be doing? Playing a 4 headed monster forward line, with a midfield that means the ball doesn't go there?

HTH do you grow up in Murray Bridge and end up barracking for GC.

Some parents there that need to take a good hard look at themselves.

I was hoping Luko wouldn't pick us... but absolutely hoping NWM does.
I dont mind admitting at the time, I was disappointed. As it turned out, Im grateful that he didnt.

If the rumours are true, its disappointing we are out of the race for NWM. However, I do hope we put forward a contract offer to make sure the Power pay top dollar for him.

Ive no doubt we will do just that.

We were also out of the race for Dawson and Cumming, and not even in the race for Peatling.

We like to do things on the sly

Alternatively, we didn't want Luko but bid Port up to a maximum, which allowed us to take Cumming on the back of his admiration / friendship with Tex. Simples.

In the end, as long as either Crows or the Filth get SA players to come back to SA it will make other teams less inclined to draft SA locals.

Bergman / NWM swap sounds fair.
You're having a laugh yeah?

No way is Bergman going to command the type of money that NWM will get, NWM will likely be offered $1.2 Mill+ at least for a seriously long contract term, no way Bergman gets anything like that type of deal, not money wise anyhow

Bergman is very good but he's not a gamebreaker like NWM.

His current most lucrative offer is from us, so we are definitely trying to lure him.

Nothing sly as as are on record with a very good offer.

Unfortunately he appears closer to Wanganeens than Mileras. Also, has close mates in the Port team.

Well would he rather win games of footy and see his mates outside of footy or play with those mates and barely win as the club decides to rebuild?
