Ryan showed potential last year developing in the SANFL and Edwards this year so how is that stuffed drafting them??? Had they shown no AFL potential in the 2 years then it will be starting to be "stuffed" territory.
We've actively decided not to develop them in the AFL team. Is our coaching staff not on the same page as drafting again?
Or should we have picked someone else.

We're winning with a squad that has a lot of depth, including both experienced players and kids in the reserves.

That's actually a good situation.

There's been plenty of opportunities to give them games. We've elected to go with the likes of Murphy and Smith instead.

And just look at how Godden sets them up in the SANFL…..glad he’s developing Murphy as a midfielder so as he can slot into the engine room at AFL level if required.

Have we already stuffed the 2023 draft?
Should we have trade Edwards and Ryan picks up the order?

Considering Curtin is already in the best 22? No.

It's only halfway through the second year for Edwards, and Ryan. As long as Edwards keeps performing in the SANFL, eventually he'll get the required luck needed to break into the best 22 (i.e. injury hits Laird/Milera/Hinge, or we have a run of poor form, or a structural change that creates a need etc). Ryan? who knows. I had high hopes for him, but it doesn't seem to be happening for the lad this season.

I think it's safe to say neither Edwards or Ryan are likely to be superstars (seeing we treat prospects we genuinely believe have that potential differently), but beyond that, there is still plenty of time for both.

I'm SHOCKED that Murphy and Smith have received (check notes) a single game each this year. Absolutely disgusting, I'm microwaving my membership card immediately.

Isn’t Matthew wright the coach?

Nicks said in his presser yesterday Edwards sanfl form is irrelevant. So no, he won't get that luck.

Never underestimate the power of an unfortunate long-term injury to a best 22 member, and how that can lead to structural changes (or said structural changes failing).

Or a sector failing coinciding with a losing streak.

Mind you, the part where the first player mentioned was Bond does not bode well at all for Edwards future as a half back, because the coaching group's favourite player seems to be next in line for the half back role.

Shouldn't Nank be the next half back in the depth chart? He was dropped as a wingman, but comfortably held his place at half back last year.

Possibly, but the player who gets shifted if Bond comes in is Max (and Nank didn't rate a mention to replace Laird, if he gets rested). So, either, we see the Laird role as separate to the half back flank (possible) or we're toying with a genuine structural change.

When there's even a small amount of public groundswell behind a player coming in, Nicks seems to go out of his way not to mention them in his pressers.

Lists every alternative, much worse option instead. Pumps up the incumbent.

Anything but give in or add to public pressure. Defiance disorder

“You can’t make a suggestion, I make the decisions around here, I’m the coach”

Some don’t think he’s arrogant and cocky, I think the exact opposite. Just because he smiles doesn’t make him up himself

What we need to is trade or draft a 200cm Key Defender. Currently there are 26 Forwards 200cm or above with the outlier in Mason Cox & Luke Darcy 209cm & 208cm. Whilst our Key Defenders are 3x 195cm, 194cm & 192cm.

There are only 13 Defenders at 200cm.

I feel we need to replace James Borlase with Callum Jamieson of West Coast.

Sam Darcy ??

Jordy Butts is basically 200cm

Stubborn has been used to describe him. And since he seems to make up his mind on if a guy will get played or not in the pre-season it seems to take a lot of time and effort to get a gig if you weren't in his PS thought process.

And that's why he says form is irrelevant because it doesn't necessarily matter if you play well, he's got you ranked and that's where you're stuck.
