I’d love Tex to come out now and say “yeah I ****ed up, I’ve done my time turned over a new leaf.
Bringing up this now is both pathetic and damaging, I have personally spoken to NWM and his manger who both said it is not true.
Caro has had a long running agenda against me and this time she’s gone too far.”

Glad Caro has been discredited, but I don’t think we should be into NWM anyway. It’d cost us 2 first rounders assuming we finish at the pointy end. That really should be used for an A-grade midfielder.
Nah he would be a massive get for us. I hope we are still a chance.

Possibilities

1 - it’s true, but NWMs management knows it is better to have another bidder in the contest

2 - it’s true, but NWM did not tell his management how he is actually thinking (both 1 and 2 can be true)

3 - it’s not true, and Port lobbed this to try and squeeze us out of the bidding war. Unlikely, too risky.

4 - it’s not true, and St Kilda lobbed this to try and squeeze us out of the bidding war. Unlikely, too risky.

5 - (wild conspiracy) it’s not true and some other club or management group lobbed this try to erode trust between NWM and his management and/or Port/Crows, with the ultimate goal being to peel NWM away from his current plans and/or mgt

6. It is not true, and someone got their wires crossed

7. It is true, all involved know it is true, and leaked against the wishes of NWM and his mgt

8. It is true, NWM feels strongly about it, and allowed it to be leaked behind his mgt’s back.

NWM rang tex supposedly (I guess he could lie to him)

9. It was true a while back, but then the Crows pitched some serious $$$ and all was forgiven?

Caro is running her agenda here 100%. She can't really be confirmed or denied, and it sells.

NWM clearly has no problem with Tex so I don’t think she should of gone with it.

At the same time I don’t think she dreamt it up and to include St Kilda players in it as well has added an extra level.

It probably went something like or a variation of this with Port and St Kilda players.

What’s the chances it went like this:

JHF “you don’t want to go to the Crows, remember what Tex did”
NWM “never thought about it”

JHF to Davies “NWM said he never thought about playing with Tex”
Davies to Caro “NWM doesn’t want to play with Tex”

Unless he was really strong in down playing any issue with Tex then people run with what they want to hear. Why would he be strong, he probably hadn't even thought about it but it gathers momentum that way.

Dislike Caro at the best of times. But she isn’t going to run an inflammatory story like that if she wasn’t 100% sure of it.

I’m guessing his management poured water on it because it serves them to do so. Keeping AFC in the hunt to the outside world ensures his value (and their pay day) remains as high as possible. PR101.
You seriously cant be that gullible..

Wrong again, just like you were wrong being bullish with Port Power's list lol. Wilson got fed "information" from her Port Power source and didn't bother to fact check it as she believe they are the source of truth.

Possible. They don't have a strong relationship and NWM needs it to go away as quickly as Tex does.

There wouldn't be one person out there who hasn't lied to defuse a situation with someone they don't really know.

At the same time the most likely option is he could 100% be telling the truth. Will never know

Ringing him is a decent step though, one he didn’t have to do.

Caro has spent her whole life making up things or getting information from people who are clearly lying or making things up and then prattling it off as if it was gospel. She is not the only one who does this, but people should be wise to the industry by now.

What was funny?
Nasiah rang Tex not the other way around

Caro has commented that the Power have told her this story as well as from some other sources. She just happens to be on the same panel as Kane Cornes whose brother just happens to be Chad Cornes, who coaches at the Power. It does not take too much to join the dots as to where this information came from. Another possibility is Chris Davies who she seems to have a close professional relationship with.

Whether Nasiah comes or not it will be hard when some of his best mates are JHF and Jace Burgoyne. This friendship group will probably be the decider if he decides to leave St Kilda. Having photos taken at the time and players openly talking about the meeting suggests the decision has been made in Ports favour if he comes interstate. I think the crows knew it was always going to be a difficult assignment to get him to come to the AFC but they wanted to make sure that they put every iron into the fire to entice him there.

We can only hope that the boys have other potential players lined up if this one does not work out. the work done last year was a credit to the List Management team and one can only dream once more that they will repeat their efforts in 2025.

It would be Davies, doubt it's Kane in this particular case. He hasn't made any real comment on it. Given its about Tex he would of if he thought it was true.

Last night she said some at the Saints know it to be true as well which wouldn't be coming from Kane.

Davies would of done it for some kind of gain.

The problem is A grade mids very rarely get traded. I would happily give up 2 picks (hopefully) around #15 for NWM.

I think a professional footballer choosing a club because his friends are there is a pretty weird choice. Especially given how quickly your new teammates become friends very quickly.

Assuming contracts are close, surely the primary consideration should be likelyhood of team success. We’ve gone through our rebuild and are comfortably in the 8, Port are starting theirs.

I’m saying she is 100% sure of it. Doesn’t mean it’s true. She would genuinely believe what she’s saying? Right?

Nice to see you’re holding into old shit I’ve said. I was bullish about Port’s list. You know, the one that played in multiple prelims after I said it. I suppose that makes me a Port troll. This board sometimes.

Rent free in your head.

They got lucky with the fixture during the pandemic and even last year they weren't considered one of the premiership favourite and rightfully got smashed by Sydney in the PF and now we see how shit their list is, they always had holes everywhere except in the midfield. Hinkley overachieved with their list, mind up he also have left it in a worst state then when he took over after trading 1st and 2nd rounders for Temu "missing piece".
