Was watching the crows show on youtube, interestingly phil harper (AFLW general manager) said hes been involved in recruiting/drafting for the past 4 years. Goes to watch the 18s and 16s. Must have been an intervention after so many **** ups

Everyone expects us to be in the top 4 for the next three years. So three picks around the 16 level. In reality, if you wanted a top 5 pick, no one is going to trade you three pick 16s for it.
That's what St Kilda will be looking at. Port we expect to finish bottom 8 for the next few seasons, so two picks around 5 or 6 and a player like Whitlock would be far more around the mark than ours.

Anyway, I think its just academic at this point as I think we arnt in with a shot.
Port have been in multiple prelims and we've been garbage for years.

Hopefully we everything you say will be true, but nothing is certain.

Port aren’t recruiting nas with the belief they’re not pushing finals the next few years. If he does leave (which I highly doubt atp) he’ll nominate a club so what the other club can offer is irrelevant. At the end of the day, he’s an uncontracted player and we aren’t going to trade away another crucial player to bring him in.

Saints aren’t going to lose him for nothing if they know we’ve genuinely come to the table. 3 first round picks plus players they can add to their 22 is a legitimate offer. I agree though, he’s not moving so discussing this further is pointless.

If we are able to get NWM to nominate us during the trade period with the likely cost of our next 3 first round picks, I wonder if there is any possibility of Dodson being included as some steak knives our way?
I think we would try to get an extra 1st this year somehow to bundle with our 25 & 26 1sts. We have a few players on the periphery of our main side that would be trade valuable

Its too hard to read what his intentions are. He should be a poker player.
Port
He has his cousin Jasse and his best mate JHF playing at Port. His uncles, Gavin and Terry both are Port. He is heavily influenced by his Uncle Terry and looks up to him greatly. He barracked for Port.
He was definitely homesick when he first went to St Kilda. I'm not sure if he still is.

St Kilda
Possession is 9th of the law. They already have him, and he apparently gets along with Ross very well and has some friends there.
He is playing good football there and the Saints can match any financial offer Port or the Crows put to him.

Adelaide
We are in the finals window, and if he wants ultimate success, then he comes to us.
We have put a tasty offer to him and were the first to go after him. He has a cousin here as well, but he isnt as tight with him as he is with Jasse and JHF. Wayne is a different era.
When the rumour came out that he put a line through us due to Tex, not only did his management come out publicly and shoot it down, but Nas rang Tex and told him that isn't true. Why would he do that if he had put a line through us?

So there's a case for all teams, but the issue for St Kilda is if he was resigned to staying there why wouldn't he have already signed? You can say he is haggling over money and is put off by what they are willing to pay TDK, but the facts remains he hasn't gone to them with a counter offer either. That's not staying signals.

I have heard that its between Port and St Kilda, those are his two preferred options, but i wouldn't be surprised anyway he decides to go.

People need to stop looking at it as three first round picks and instead look at it as three picks between 15-18. You absolutely do that for NWM!

How do we even do 3 first rounders? It’s 2 in a rolling 4 year period, we have to use one at the draft between 2025 and 2027. AFL shouldn’t allow us to trade all 3.

Same way the Power would get around it, trade into this year's first round and take a pick in the first round this year.

If the first round goes into the late 20s or something ridiculous, might not be too hard to get in. Assuming the AFL sign off on that.

Good luck convincing one let alone 2 or 3 players to go to St Kilda while we are hot hot hot

We wouldn’t be doing that though. We’d be saying to a few players that if they got an offer they wanted to explore, we’d try and get a deal done. They don’t have to go to Saints, all the other clubs have draft picks too.

We have 3 thirds I reckon. Can’t see that getting into the first round. I just can’t see it happening and the value of our futures will he SFA in today’s market.

Picks and players will be thrown around during the off-season.

Not sure we’ve got much to offer in terms of players though. None of our OOC guys I’d even want to extend, except Bond. But he’s worthless at trade. The level that would have some value that we might look at are the Keays, Peatling types and maybe a KPD. Outside of that, I’m not sure we’re going to be all that flexible on who we are prepared to lose. Doubt we’d even be prepared to lose someone like Keays.

Can I interest you in... another Crouch brother?

Testing my memory here but didn’t jenny61_99 tell us this a few years ago? And didn’t she get push back from sone re her intel re this?

hang on, you have maintained for weeks Crows were ZERO chance. Are you backing away from that and if so why?

More clubs will request it going forward now with the ability to trade 2 years in advance. That combined with AFL wanting to ensure Saints are adequately compensated means it’s a likely sign off I reckon. And our case is compelling -certainly compared to Power re using firsts at the draft:

2020 - TT, Pedlar
2021 - Rachele
2022 - Max
2023 - 3 lads headed by Curtin
2024 - Draper

Yes. My pushback was he was not the only one doing it and not to the level inferred

Unlike some I am prepared to stand by my comments

I can’t remember that level of detail but I am surprised Jenny said he was the only one doing it. Anyway, whatever’s happening is working extremely well the last 4 years

Unless we've a player genuinely wanting to go to the Saints, I'm not for trading anyone. Cohesion and spirit are our strong suit and any suggestion of a player or two coerced into leaving might be taken poorly in the locker room.

Everyone's buzzing now but come finals there will be 22 + 1 picked and some players will miss out

Butts or Murray?
Pedlar, Taylor, Cook?
Will Crouch squeeze Berry out?
Edwards and Ryan would be wondering where they are at even now

None balance a potential NWM trade to any great degree though. Maybe Butts/Murray

I agree with you about players like Soligo, Rachele. They seem to be a big part of the club's spirit

I'd let Butts, Berry and 2 firsts go for NWM.

2026 best 22

Worrell ~ Murray ~ Michalanney
Hinge ~ Keane ~ Milera
Curtin ~ Dawson ~ Cumming
O'Brien ~ Soligo ~ Wanganeen-Milera
Rachele ~ Fogarty ~ Rankine
Keays ~ Thilthorpe ~ Walker
Peatling ~ ANB ~ Draper ~ Laird
Cook

Depth: Jones, Taylor, Edwards, Ryan, Pedlar, Nankervis, Dowling, Bond

No, I'm not backing away at all. I think its between Saints and Port. I dont think he is seriously looking at us.
However, he has kept things so close to his chest, and not given any hint at what he is going to do, that at the end of if it did chose Adelaide I would laugh and say he truly is a master poker player.
