I know Zac Bailey was one we have mentioned, but another who is from SA and OOC next year we should be right into is Michael Fredrick from Fremantle

Would slot in our forward line beautifully

I wouldn’t be moving Rash on, no way. He’s a pivotal piece in the ream, and I’m not just talking on the field.
I agree that he won't/shouldn't be going anywhere because of the cultural issues this would create within the club/team.

However, if we were looking to move a player on in order to make the NWM trade happen, then Rachele would be the ideal candidate.

Loving how we currently have depth. Prefer to not trade Butts or Pedler. But Taylor, Jones, burgess, Mrouch, Smith, Sholl, borlase, cook, Laird could all be possibly talked into leaving for more opportunities at AFL level and wouldnt affect our overall position too much. Whether to the Saints or to other clubs for draft capital.
The problem is that none of the players you've listed have any trade value whatsoever - and most of them are on the delist pile as soon as their current contracts expire.

If we're going to be trading for NWM then we need to be willing to give up something of value. It may be quality player, or a bunch of 1st round draft picks, it won't be one or more players who can't find a place in our best 22 .

No he wouldn't. You don't give up a 2+ goal per game small forward (removing games where Rash got injured), on top of it giving the additional flexibility of being able to use Rankine as a 4th-5th mkx.

We're better off giving up defenders, not forwards and if we absolutely had to, Nick Murray would be the magnet.

Here is a portion of crows related list changes as part of an article covering all 18 teams

OFF-CONTRACT CROWS
Hugh Bond, Chris Burgess, Matt Crouch, Karl Gallagher, Lachie Murphy, Harry Schoenberg, Brodie Smith, Zac Taylor, Taylor Walker

TOTAL PLAYERS: 9

Adelaide typically has fewer players in the last year on their deals than other clubs. The list is a blend of veterans, fringe players and younger squad members unable to break into a finals-bound AFL team, headlined by Taylor Walker, Brodie Smith and Matt Crouch.
KEEP

The fact crafty midfielder Zac Taylor is in the side right now suggests he is doing enough to earn a new deal. Veteran on-baller Matt Crouch is still in Adelaide’s best 23 when healthy, getting a strong start to the season derailed by a hip injury. Club great Taylor Walker has kicked at least two goals in each of the Crows’ past five games – all wins – in a sign he has more to give if he wants to play on. Hugh Bond is an intriguing one. The 20-year-old lockdown defender played the last seven games of 2024, but was yet to be sighted at AFL level this year.

AXE

Brodie Smith has been a terrific servant for Adelaide across 15 seasons and 268 games, but, at 33 and out of the best 23, it feels like it will be his last year. Former Sun Chris Burgess has been a prolific state-league goalkicker again this campaign. At 29, the Crows are probably best to move him on. Midfielder Harry Schoenberg is stuck in the SANFL. Injuries curtailed his 2024 campaign but his spot could be in trouble. Lachie Murphy was an AFL regular until this season. Polarising with fans, the 26-year-old’s future may come down to list spots.

TRADE

Adelaide’s best 23 is difficult to break into and it may become worse in 2026. So players looking for regular AFL games seem the likeliest to be traded. Will wingman Lachie Sholl – long linked with clubs in his home state of Victoria – seek a move for more opportunities? The 25-year-old has been limited to five AFL games this season (he has played 12 in the SANFL). What about Chayce Jones? He is in a similar boat, going from 20, 18 and 16 AFL matches the previous three years to just two in 2025.

I had no idea he was an SA boy.

Has there ever been any rumours about a return home?

I think Coopers was talking about Frederick, who is indeed from SA. His younger brother played a couple of AFL games for Port.

The problem with trading Rash or soligo is that they are great mates. Remove one and you risk losing the other.
A pretty common theme among the supporter groups of Collingwood and Geelong for example is that they never lose players they want to keep

Personally I don't think Rachele should even be in the conversation. Apart from the fact he's contracted long term and has to agree to leave

We arent flush with small forwards either.

We are and we aren't. Small forwards are like midfielders, you can never have enough good ones.

After all, we have one of the deepest small/med forward rotation in the league and we're still playing the likes of Taylor/Pedlar/Murphy. It's a hard position to properly fill out.

Can we cool it on the pushing Rachele out until NWM has named us?
None of it makes any sense. If we're selling the farm for NWM it has to be with picks, not trading out an A grader for an A+ grader.

There's a huge increase in overall team talent if we get in NWM and he pushes out the 22nd selected player in our best team, vs him replacing say the 7th or 8th best, because we traded them back to the saints.

If we're going to remove ourselves from the first round for a few years then it has to be for a big benefit, not an incremental one.

At the end of the day, StK management also need to save face; they would much rather three firsts then fringe players - and anyone who does transfer, would do so knowing they'd be hated from day one.

StK will certainly scream but at the end of the day, compromised or uncompromised drafts, three firsts are still three firsts. AFL House will bend the 2-in-4 rules to ensure they get the best compensation, and will probably throw them some primetime games next year as under the table sweetener.

It's Thursday afternoon, basically August- he's gone. Anyone who's been in the situation where you're truly homesick and already on good money can confirm, being thrown more money won't change your mind - you'll still be on the first flight home

I wouldn't be pushing Rachele even if NWM nominates us.

If he does, we offer up mainly draft picks & any fringe types they may be interested in.

Top teams rarely trade out their best talent to get in a top talent. Neither should we.

Unlike Port, we have have a 1st rounder for all future drafts, so shouldn't be an issue getting a trade done.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting pushing Rachelle.

This started as a hypothetical asked to Campo and he said he would.

You would if Rach wanted to leave, that’s it.

I think Soligo and Rachele stay with us their entire careers. Sloane would have taught them well.
