I'd also like to know why SANFL top ups are given the same jumper numbers as AFL listed players.

We gave the number 2 jumper to Ned Atkinson, which says loud and clear Ben Keays has a golden ticket and won't play SANFL

Hugh Haysman as the same number as Soligo who actually did play SANFL!
Did you just defeat your argument in the same post?

Fox article on GCS lamenting the problems they have due to having too much talent on the list!
Apparently, they are all playing for themselves and not the team, a suggested solution being to take Petracca out of the midfield. They do not have enough "soldiers".

I humbly suggest that we make a few offers to help them out: win-win! ;)

So anyone got some players they think are gettable we could add?

We need some more explosiveness and a small fwd. backline is pretty set.

I reckon we need an A grade midfielder and small forward, and we are pretty many contenders and also a head coach away, but I won't get into that

Kade Chandler is the only small forward I can think of atm, I wish we renewed are interest in Malcolm Rosas at the end of last year and landed him

Petracca was always going to play more forward than midfield, that was the appeal for him to prolong his career at GCS and reportedly why they gave him more years????

That's not the point of my post, which was to offer to take a few talents off their hands and give them a few soldiers.

listened to Mathew Lloyd speak about Merrett this morning, do you think we’d potentially have a crack at landing him if he doesn’t end up at Hawthorn?

I don't think so. The problem with a player like Merrett or similar is I don't think we are one good midfielder away. We will burn what could be a good pick this year and then probably next year all be it in a compromised draft and still not be seriously contending in a couple of years.

Bailey is different all be it will cost more as there is no draft capital. We have to still go to the draft in my view.

The way things are looking unless South Adelaide's well skilled inside/outside 190cm midfielder Archie Van Dyk gets back to playing soon with his current back issue he may even be available with a 2nd round pick, IMO he's every bit as good as his Panthers teammate Kodah Edwards who is being talked of as top 5 pick. Out of sight out of mind, hopefully the lad gets over his current predicament and gets back on the playing field before the Nationals.

Doesn't matter how good your list is, when the messaging from leadership gets stale and people lose interest nothing changes. It's what's happened here.
This is absolutely true. Coaches have a time limit. You can't keep on promising and promising and then not getting results.
It's what happened with Neil Craig. He promised ultimate success if you worked harder and trained longer. The players all bought in. Success eluded us though. You can't come back after that.

The only way coaches can have long tenures is to be in the Nicks situation where you keep on improving bit by bit (also has an end point though), you have ultimate success, OR you keep on changing and refreshing the other voices at the club by moving on your line coaches. Smart coaches do this.
