It's only Borlase's 3rd year on the rookie list, so he doesn't need to be upgraded
2027 will be his 5th year on the AFL list.
2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027.

I honestly didn’t know that was allowed. Oh well, nice little rule to give him a few more years. He was re-rookied at the end of 2023, so he's currently on his 3rd year
Yes, he does. As per the post by Daniel6, players can only remain on the rookie list for a 4th year if they haven't played 10 AFL games. Borlase has played 23 AFL games, so this clause doesn't apply to him. It's only Borlase's 3rd year on the rookie list, so he doesn't need to be upgraded
It's more than that... he was originally signed in 2020, so this is already his 6th season on the list.2027 will be his 5th year on the AFL list.

I doubt it. Sporting competitions love this shit.Is the AFL the only league in the world with stupid convoluted rules that are impossible to follow.
Players can be delisted and re-drafted in the subsequent RD. This resets the countdown clock on their rookie list time limit. It also makes them a FA every time they come out of contract.I honestly didn’t know that was allowed. Oh well, nice little rule to give him a few more years.
Fair enough. I did not know this. Appreciate it.![]()
I did think about that with HHK/Cumming but havn't seen enough to make my mind up yet.
I also agree with Pedlar/Keays on the talented part.......ANd the, he wont get his body together part.
Hinge vs Laird is interesting.
I was actually thinking last night. Laird is probably the way to see what our game plan is. He does it to a tee. And because he gets the ball so much, he sets things up. And by moving it so fast at the moment, he doesn't have the time to stuff it up. I actually think when people were ripping in to him for slow ball movement. It was more gamplan. I wonder if it was all Nicks. But how Laird's played since half time in that Richmond game. I'm actually not moaning when he gets it. I think the Laird we have right now is better than anything Hinge has shown in the past 18 months.
My point was bleedingly obvious. Clubs need a mature body to ruck while their young ruckmen get physically mature. You're moving the goalposts now to support your argument which is very different from your initial post.
Goad was drafted in 2023 and didn't even get a single game until 2026.You can... Goad just debuted for Norf, and he's only 20.
What they need is a ruck aged around 23-24 - ready to come in, and still at the age where they can develop with the rest of the group. Bringing in a 31yo doesn't help them, particularly when the rule changes have neutered the only real strength that he had in his game.
Who are the teenage ruckmen who have played with success?I think I agree with this. Especially in the history of the Adelaide Crows.
Mark Mickan was a mature ruck from Brisbane Bears
Shaun Rhen didn’t play until he was 22/23, same as David Pittman.
Rhett Biglands, Matthew Clarke and Sam Jacobs were all mature players recruited to play as our number 1 ruck.
Laurence Angwin and John Meesen were tried and failed as teenagers. Ivan Maria could be the player who breaks the rule, but he didn’t play his best footy until he was in his mid 20’s with Richmond.
Even McAndrews was 23/24 before playing as a main ruck.
I’m sure many clubs have chucked teenage ruckman into the role with success, but this theory stands up if you look at our history.
Who are the teenage ruckmen who have played with success?
That's probably the other point. For those that want to move ROB on, why? What's your plan if McAndrew gets injured? We don't need many list changes, we're already very young and if we stop getting injuries we'll have some very talented and deserving youth not getting games as it is.

That has happened constantly through history.
They gave Grundy some minutes but didn't rely on him to take the big ruck minutes as a kid.
How many games as a lead ruckman did Gawn or English play in their first few years? How about early selected talls like Green or Goad or Duff Tytler or Read?
I thought my point was reasonably clear, Bicks. It wasn't that controversial, I wouldn't have thought.
Rob is far far better than Scully or Boyd.We draft Tom Scully from West Adelaide, or we trade for Alex Dodson from St Kilda, play Riley Thrilthorp as a ruck, Harry Boyd.
Just to name a few who can play as back up ruck.
Why do you think he's on that much money?Get rid of his $700k salary and find another McAndrew to take his place as a backup
Then how come all your great young ruckmen drafted recently haven't suddenly burst forth? And
The ruck rules have changed dramatically this season in case you missed it.
Rob is far far better than Scully or Boyd.
Maybe Dodson would be worth it, that's not a bad idea.
Scully is more a tall forward than a ruck and he's not overly strong in the contest either. That’s true, but like Rob, Scully and or Boyd would be the backup ruck playing in the SANFL. Salary cap wise, Rob is getting $$$$$ where as Scully or Boyd would only be on $$.
Replacing Rob would be a good financial gain to the salary cap.
Dodson should be on our wish list regardless of Rob staying or going.
Scully is more a tall forward than a ruck and he's not overly strong in the contest either.
Hell Nathan Bassett saw fit to play 18 year old ruckman Lincoln Pitt before him in their league game when he wasn't selected for the U18's game against WA.
