The afl website had him on the list of FA as unrestricted (must not be in their top 25 % of money earners) so like us with menzel they have no bid matching rights.

only get free agency or restricted free agency after a minimum number of years of service to 1 club, IIRC it's 8 years for RFA and 10 years for FA.

the way it is supposed to work that is the case but in reality the players have all the power so any player coming OOC nowadays is virtually a FA anyway. the only stumbling block is that a trade needs to be arranged. with RFAs a club has the right to match another clubs offer but in practice this does not happen, as a FA you can go where ever you want.

you are not a free agent in this case.
