i think it's pretty stuffed that alot of you guys are patronising tigertiger for this attempt at bucking back against the zombifying devices that are infiltrating our lives.

atleast he can see and admit there is a problem, which is more than most. I would wager that majority of people wouldn't even admit they are addicted to technology
What exactly is the problem with it?

he is blaming the phone for his addiction, when the real problem is him. i would wager the majority of people aren't addicted to their phones to the point where it has a negative impact on their lives.

Disagree. I'm on the road a lot. And all I see are millions of people driving while texting.

Balky has a point, phones aren't the root cause of the problem.

I find my phone gets a work out the less I have to do. If I'm busy at work or doing something outdoors my phone will just sit there for hours. If I'm busy working and I get a call or a text I'll answer it, but it's not uncommon for it to just sit there idle for hours. If I'm scratching around for things to do then I'll check Facebook every 5 minutes etc.

There's nothing zombifying about a telephone per se.

To not have one is just stupid IMO.

If you don't want a smartphone etc, get an old Nokia. Or just switch off data and only use it to call and text.

Not having one for the sake of it just seems stupid, especially if there's people in your life who sometimes need/want to contact you.

Tough luck, if I wanted people to annoy me 24/7 I'd have a mobile phone :D :p

People only call you to annoy you?

"Xtreme, we got a bonus GF ticket at the ground! Oh shit we can't contact you"

What about when a chick is horny and wants a bit of xtreme love? Oh well he's not home.

Seems moronic

Its common sense, don't have one, Don't need one.

So very true.

My iphone 4 finally died the other week and i didn't replace it for a week, man it felt so good not having a phone. But unfortunately they are a necessity these days so I got a basic smartphone and aldi prepaid, it's nice and cheap and I don't buy much credit that i can sit on my phone/social media while out and about but still have the convenience
