Even james blake is very good friends with lleyton now.. even after the comment he made about him in US open 2001! I agree early on his career he used to be a ********er..
 
I think it is funny how his parents are nicknamed 'the griswalds' on the tour.

I'll reserve judgement until he gets to the final. He's a damn cocky arsed kid but he's got the history to show he can win.

But it'll annoy me and make me like him less if he sticks with the arrogant attitude. Not that he'll give a ******** what I think. Bah! Who cares.

I don't think he is arrogant. He always applauds opponents good shots with a tap of the racket and is alot more gracious in defeat compared to early on. He is one of those people who needs to pump up and stay pumped up to play his best sport. Good on him for pulling his head out I say.
 
Great comeback by Hewitt running away with it like he did. Kind of feel for Blake though. If Hewitt was to lose to anyone, I'd rather it be Blake or Agassi.

No way! Mcenroe was/is a legend! So too was Connors. The unfortunate thing is you have these boring drones the exact opposite to these types which make the game a snorefest for those not fully into the game. I loved Mcenroes talk show on foxtel and his book was a top read!
 
He's a bit of a prik but I forgive him everything for the way he goes about his tennis. One of the most intense competitors in any sport of all time. iIt's inspiring.

And what he has done for Australian tennis is nothing short of amazing. He has kept us on the map, and has already clocked up the most Davis Cup wins in Australin history at the young age of 23.

We should all appreciate the way he fights the way he does becuase it might be a good 50 years before we see another Australian with similar fighting qualities.

When will some Australians ever grow up. What is wrong with his 'arrogant' attitude. It has got him to number one for two years and to the current status that he is now. I dont have a problem with his c'mons. Its adrenalin pumping, it fires him up to play his best and win the games. Therefore there are no problems with his attitude. There are ********loads of arrogant pricks who are top sportsman in this world, arrogant pricks in many different ways ,but get used to it.

Given that you barrack for a team that contains some of the alltime greatest showponies in sport, I would have thought that you would admire him. I can't understand why Australians can't accept that he's not Pat Rafter the "nice guy". Rafter was such a staunch Aussie that he set himself up in Bermuda to avoid income tax, yet they still make him Aussie of the Year-what a joke. Meanwhile we have a young guy that is a far superior player, totally dedicated to his country, based in Adelaide and pays taxes accordingly (on a far higher income than Rafter ever generated), was No.1 in the world for 2 years and has singlehandedly been the saviour of men's tennis in this country for the last 2 years. What do people do about this? Call him arrogant because he pumps himself up a bit, mercilessly look for something to bring him down.

The treatment of Lleyton is the very definition of Tall Poppy Syndrome at its' finest. We should be enjoying the fact that we have one of the world's finest on our doorstep. Be careful what you wish for, the next guy could be as boring as Sampras. COME ON!!!!!!

What has who i barrack for got anything to do with this topic?The Lions have never carried on the way Hewitt does when he is on court.The reason why i cant stand him is because of his repetitive antics on courts that drive people crazy.I also dont like the way he whinged about the court surface being poor before this tournement started all because we shouldve catered the surface to suit him.Why the hell should we cater the surface the suit his game?Every other player has to play on the same surface and at the end of the day if your good enough you will win.He carrys on like a spoilt brat and the sooner he gets eliminated from the open the better off it will be

I agree, doing handstands after a game is not nearly as bad as pumping your fist to fire yourself up. That Hewitt is an arrogant mo'fo. But Akermanis is GOD.

well said mate, I have changed my tune of Lleyton in the last few years, he is great to watch and I hope he wins the Open, Australian tennis needs him to win.
 
Lleyton Hewitt is a disgrace. If he was even a quarter the bloke Pat Rafter is he would still be the biggest coxckhead on the tour. Treats line and chair judges like pieces of ******** as if it was a matter of courtesy, shows no respect for opponents ranked below him....just a thoroughly nasty bit of work. Its got nothing to do with cutting down tall poppies...he has a personality about as likeable as a post retirement Pat Cash. And enough about the sleeveless shirts and pre season bulk up already...Alicia Molik could pound that prick.

Very well said. Him pumping himself up is fine and he has grown up over the years. He is gracious on the court as seen with his applause of opponents good shots. Some people just hate to have to admit that he has proven them wrong from his early days and grown up, let alone proven many wrong who said he was a flash in the pan who would be over powered in the end. Phillipoussis, now theres someone to bag!
 
I've never liked Lleyton Hewitt but I'd begun to soften towards him UNTIL I saw him play James Blake. Ugh. If I had to hear "C'MON" one more time I was going insane - I ended up turning the game off.

It's unneccessary, pumping yourself up is fine but not at every point...

...and considering the hand movement was "stolen" from Willander anyway! It's all too much.
