Lloyd will miss this weeks match as the tribunal found him guilty of rough play against Mansfield.

Its about time this happened...Lloyd, altho a great player, is often reckless and often does stupid things to almost "prove" he is tough.

That's a stupid thing to say. You can't say "It's about time this happened". You have to treat each case on it's merits. Considering he pleaded not guilty, the ball was within five metres (roughly), contact was unavoidable, and he didn't raise his elbow, he can consider himself pretty unlucky. Especially considering the umpires couldn't even get the report right in the first place and he has never been reported before (not counting wrestling)

Grrr....why couldn't the shithead have got 2 weeks?? Bloddy hell

That's like saying North haven't lost a game this year except the the last three.

Well, he's got his prior conviction now, so next time he gets hauled up (whenever that is), he won't have his spotless record to fall back on.

Oh, and by the way, I didn't see the Libba case being treated "on it's merits". All we heard about there was his past.

Macca... I have been saying this all season... lets hope he learns from his mistake... concentrates on the football... and gives away the tough stuff... which he has proven on numerous ocassions... he isn't very good...

That's a pretty harsh call windyhill. I believe I am being objective and unbiased when I say that Matthew Lloyd was very unlucky. He had committed himself to the contact, the ball was close (it wasn't as if it was 50 metres of the ball), he kept his elbow down, the umpire didnlt report him initially, and he had a clean record. Moorcroft, was fairly dealt with after his right "jab", but I think Matthew Lloyd was very, very unlucky to be suspended in this particular instance.

I'm looking forward to the challenge, however, of being competitive against the ladder leaders minus 4 of our best 10 players. It will be very interesting to see how we go on the road, with a somewhat depleted side.

and he didn't raise his elbow

Did you see the replay?? He raised his arm and connected him with his forearm to his head. He may not of raised the elbow but he definatly raised his arm to connect with him high. If he had of tucked the arm in then he would of been fine, but no...he had to act all tough man and raised his arm. He got what he deserved

Oh come on!!

As he was about to contact the Carlton player, he raised his arm slightly, as is the natural reaction when you are about to make contact. he didnt raise his elbow, or whack anyone to the head. So he moved his arm...... big deal. When you are protecting the side of your body, you often raise the arm slightly to instinctively defend yourself.

No Dan you are wrong... only players that don't know how to execute a hip and shoulder lift the arm... he sould give this PWE away and concentrate on the football...

You are totally demented in the head. What footage were you looking at?? Every video I've seen that little prick has lifted his elbow and collected Mansfield. So Round 1, look what he does to Shannon Watts, then Round 3 its Mick Mansfield - who will be next? He is definately trying to prove his 'toughness'...

Bull shit Dan, stop being so bias. Just be lucky he didnt get more. You dont instinctivly raise your arm to connect someone in the head on purpose. If he had any idea about how to bump someone, he should of tucked his arm in and connected him with the shoulder.
Looking at the replay now, he raised his arm and connected him in the head. What dont you understand about it that it isnt allowed in the game of football?
If he hadnt of raised his arm on purpose...he would of missed Mansfield altogether. If your telling me that is a fair bump then Dan you really need your eyes tested. His arm is about a foot away from his body!!

Your argument is full of holes Dan.
You look at the replay and tell me its a fair bump.
1) He raised his arm a foot away from his body to make contact to Mansfield.
2)He raised his arm in a shape as if he was about to give someone an arm wrestle, and connected Mansfield on his face.
3) He moved his arm big deal?? I suppose you think Locketts bump on Caven was fair as well??

4) Lloyd wasnt protecting the side of his body. I have the replay paused on impact right now...his arm is a foot away from his body, he connects him almost with the tricep. Had Lloyd tucked in his arm he would not of hit Mansfield. He raised his arm to purposely make contact. Whether it was meant to be high or not was not the case. He hit him high, he pays the consequences

When i saw the footage i thought it looked similar to the jonathon brown incident a few weeks ago. That's why I thought he'd get off and i was pretty surprised when i heard he got 1 week. Sure he hit the player high but that's cos mansfield(?) fell over. It looked like he was trying to give him a hip and shoulder.

Lloyd should have gone last year when he hit Kretiuk but not this time IMO.
