Lloyd's actions as Acting Captain

Speakig to my old man who went to the game on Sturday night - he noticed one very interesting thing about Lloyd.

When NLMs kicked that goal on the siren - everyone ran to him to congratulate him - but where was over esteemed acting captain - no where to be seen.

If he wants to be captain - surely he would know instinctively to go over and congratulate NLMs on the goal - show some heart. But he seems to self obsessed with his lack of form. Perhpas if he played like a captain should, he wouldn't have to worry.

Would the Essendon staff not sit him down with a package of Hird highlights as Captain to what you should do.

On the basis of what I have seen of him as captain - if we do appoint him, we are in real trouble.

I am not attacking his form - which is woeful - I'm sure once he regains confidence in his arm and starts doing the 1%s again he will be back to his best. But I ahve noticed bad habits for a long time with him, and only now ar they being exposed due to his poor form. We need him fit and in form. Lets hope he can.

Where was Lloyd at the time?

From my understanding he was just standing in the goal square - and trudged off over to the huddle rather than going up to NLMs.

Why cant lloyd keep his feet, everytime he is in a contested mark he goes to ground and its really start 2 pee me off. he needs to worry about taking the mark and not the umpy's.

As good as he is as a goalkicker, he is not captaincy material. I have said that for some time- Hirdy is one of the best leaders in the club's history so he can't be replaced. But Lloyd does not have the same leadership actions as other leaders. He will always be a leader but it should go to a player like McPhee, Lucas or JJ.

Hird's already anointed Lloyd though.. But I just think Lloyd is a player who should focus on playing. Might do a Riewoldt otherwise

I always thought Lloyd being a champion would be your next captain. But his form as acting captain has been horrid. Maybe as a full forward, he can only concentrate on kicking goals and does not need the captaincy distractions?

JJ next captain, then McPhee after JJ retires.
